An "extra" coin - from TT

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,556 ✭✭✭✭✭
Some of you may have seen my thread last week....wondering what to do with some of the Gold Rewards points I had accumulated but that a few were going to expire.
Well, we chose a MS64 certified Morgan Dollar.

Called them up, used the points, and a MS64 Morgan dollar was on its way to us.
Super quick and no issues.

Yesterday, went to the post office to pick up the package (about 4 days for it to get sent and arrive, including the weekend), and opened it when I got home (with my son) last night.

Well, there were TWO morgans in there! PCGS MS63 and PCGS MS64. Invoice showed both. Wow! Nice bonus, eh? What do YOU think happened?
Here's what I see....on the invoice, it has a date from last year (when I redeemed points for a MS63 morgan (that was received last year). Right below, it shows the points redeemed last week as well, but no date.
Looks like a glitch in the system. So, we got TWO PCGS morgans for the 5800 points rewarded last week!!!! MS63 and MS64. Wow!

Now, what do you think we did? I know what I wanted going to do, but remember, I have a 9 year old and I talked to him about it. a "FREE" extra coin! Nope.....he said "but, it's not ours. Shouldn't we send it back?"
image So, we were agreed but thinking there may be issues with the TT system, and we may not be the only ones, and it could get costly to them, I emailed Mr Gilbert Dominguez of TT, and outlined what had happened.
This morning, I received an email back, thanking me for bringing it to their attention, and that we should keep the MS63 PCGS Morgan as well. (My son was happy on both accounts.....we did the right thing (I always ask him "What would you want someone to do if it were happening to you from the other side of the story?" and he got another large coin image

Gil did say that they did have some hiccups in the system last week, when redeeming Gold Rewards, so I don't think it happened to us alone, but I hope that things get sorted out easily for them and that others let them know as well.

So, whether or not everyone would have done the same (I would like to think so), my son did the right thing and I am happy image

I have been very pleased with TT's service in all accounts.
I have not sold thru them but their customer service has
been outstanding. I also got an MS 64 Morgan - when I
thought I only qualified for an MS 63. Your added MS 63
was a very special bonus !!

Great people down there. Similar happened to me, as well. Just before Xmas.

I called, explained, and was told to keep them; and Merry Christmas!

I wish they were still located in Kingston, N.Y. Those were the good old days, when I could drive there and view coins in person.image

I agree with those that have had good experiences with TT's service.
I recently bought, for me, an expensive coin and I believe the shipping charge was less than what it cost to send (they sent it express mail for $19).
Quickest I have received a coin from them image

I've also had some questions answered by Irma and others. Everyone has been topnotch to deal with. I wish the pictures were better for toned coins, but I have no complaints about the service (and, I have sold some coins through them last year but missed out on the promotion this March).

They definitely has customer service in a business like this down to a "T".

I know some folks would have just kept the coin and kept quiet, but I was very glad my son didn't even say that as an option.
In the end, he ends up with a nice 1889 MS63 Morgan image

Good move! They say no good deed goes unpunished, but in this case..... Also, Gil is a super guy, and TT is lucky to have him.
    I'll come up with something.

Good on you on two accounts:
    1. For having taught your son well.
    2. For giving him the opportunity to show you he was listening.

Good on your son for making the right decision. Finally, good on Teletrade for good customer service. It would have been fine if they asked you to send it back, with them picking up the shipping, but they chose not to inconvenience you for less than $50.

This is a great thread that shows how honesty is not only its own reward, but also can pay benefits. Congrats for giving Junior good values.
