Speaking of "First Strike" designations.........

....I believe this coin deserves one!

It's just absolutely amazing how an idea comes to mind one day (this morning actually
) after
years of being perplexed with a term. Let's put it where it would really count, right into the
very classic and modern series that we collect. It just doesn't get any more fundamental than this, to determine
the early die state strike of a coin and adding the, "First Strike" designation to the label.

<< <i>Why? How do you prove this was the first, or one of the first coins struck from new dies? >>
By looking at it.
How do they determine which coins grade higher than the last coin they looked at? From the experience they gained through viewing thousands of coins. At some point, one would be able to make a hypotheses on a coin with the greatest strike.
