They are bits of history, pieces of art (well most of them) and they have value. Not value, necessarily, from which to make a profit, but value in what they represent: bits and pieces of who we are where we come from and perhaps where we are going.

I think that pretty much sums it up. Very well said.

Because its my own little world. Nobody I personally know collects them, and I enjoy entering my own little realm and learning. Some might say that they saved my life. At age 18, I was destined to follow the foot steps of all the males in my family tree: Behind bars for life. I live in the deadliest city per capita and most folks at age 18 were breaking the law and robbing folks. I never got into that life style, but I certainly was not heading in a positive direction at all. I am now 2 months removed from getting a Bachelors in the Science of Nursing, and I plan on getting out of this crappy city and providing a great foundation for my two sons. I think if it weren't for my constant involvement in coins I would never be where I am today. Heck, I might not even be alive today! Thats why I love coins!

Obviously you've never bought raw and submitted to a TPG, cracked out a coin and resubmitted to a TPG, sent in your collection for Secure Plus or True View, sent your coins off to CAC, etc.!
