Ray Bourque

Are Ray Bourque RC cards worth anything. I have both Topps and OPC, bought them about 20 years ago. They arn't graded. Should I get them graded and what grading company is premier? Thanks all, don't know much about cards any more. I'd like to stay in the hobby, but just got busy. Any help is appriciated!

I don't even know if this is the correct forum. If not can someone let me know where to go? Thanks again! image

Ray's cards do ok in good shape. It's a $30 card in NM-MT shape I think. If you can't get an 8 I wouldn't grade. Get it signed instead.

You will want PSA to grade them(they are the ones who run this forum by the way! image The 1980 OPC Rookies for both Messier and Bourque are very popular. I actually like the 81 card of Ray's also! image

  • I went ahead a took a few pic with my phone. I guess I should have done this in the first place. I see some of the grades mention, 8, 8.5, ect... what does that mean and how do I know what I have? Thanks.

They look like 6's to me.

    A 6 is a card that is Excellent-Mint. It's 6 on a scale of 10

    10 - Gem Mint
    9 - Mint
    8 - Near Mint-Mint
    7 - Near Mint
    6 - Ex-Mint
    5 - Excellent

I wouldn't grade them. Enjoy them as they are.

I would not grade them as you might not be able to recoup your money. They are very nice, but I don't think they will get high grades.

Agree with the above that I would not have these graded. If you're looking to sell I'd sell them raw.
  • 6 out of 10? Geez, I didn't think they'd do that bad. Can someone show me an 8, 9 or 10? Thanks image

While it doesn't specifically illustrate the Bourque, this is a pretty handy page that defines the different grades and has examples of PSA 1 through PSA 10 of various cards.

It might help you develop your own guesstimate of what yours might grade.
