Come crucify me... Mantle auto

Sorry... Took like 30 pictures picked the best ones.

I hope it is good news... From an estate sale, also had Aaron, Killebrew, and a 61 program Matthews.

I would say the M and T in Mantle look different from the autos that I have too. Here are my Mantle autos.

  • Anyone have any autograph balls of his that are certed? I'm trying to look on ebay (periods varying)

Seeing alot of balls with the T crossed like that

The only thing that still looks a bit off would be the M assuming the T is just like these ones

I had this one signed in person back in 1991.

Yours look like "Marino" scoreboard balls.

Not saying it's good or bad, but the one thing that stood out to me is the "M" in Mantle. The "verticle" line in the "M" is very straight ... almost everyone I have seen has a curve to the line.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • Ball in hand it looks pretty identical to the one you just put a photo up of.

What would total cost run shipping and everything to get it sent into PSA be?

Ya, that's the only thing I really see different than other signatures, I've found plenty with the T the same way, trying to find any with the more vertical M

Here is one I found with a similar sig... It is up to $208 on the bay, so someone sees something in it Text

I can't say for sure one way or the other if it's authentic or not but from what I have been told the easiest thing to look at to determine if it's a fake or not is the n in Mantle. If it looks almost like a u it is a fake and if it looks more like an n (which your's does) it is authentic. Again, this is just what I have been told by a couple of knowledgable autograph dealers.

  • Thanks,

I believe global does some stuff locally, hopefully I can get to them for an opinion.

Or you could put it up on eBay with a CRAZY BIN (so nobody will bid) and ask PSA/DNA for an opinion. I think it will run you about $7.50.

not sure if Global is still doing autos. but they are responsible for many, many clear fakes being authenticated over the past few years. they flooded the markets with GAI authenticated fake Mantle, Joe D., Williams etc. If they are authenticating I am sure they'd pass it no matter what....

like someone else said...put on ebay and get psa/dna quick opinion. but to me it does not look good.

I would tread carefully when buying autographs that haven't been authenticated. I've heard there are a lot of forgeries floating around out there. image

Seeking an "opinion" from Global? That's like asking an arson to light your cigarette. You know it will happen, but the end result will probably be horrible!
