Opinions on these 2 Hank's would be appreciated

I've been scouting Hank RC's for a few months now and am always comparing, this one has me stumped, i'll post anonymously without the grade but one card ranks double in price vs the other.

If you had a choice which ranks higher 1 or 2?
Each has it's strengths, take your pick, better pictures to come:

Notice the tilt in 1. and the rough cut edges of 2.
I know the picture in 2. is bad but you might get enough idea to know which one is right and wrong.

  • I'd take 1. It just looks better to me. #2 has a rough left side and the bottom corners looks bad to me.

I like 2, but I am a centering nut above all else.

I like card #1 even though the centering is off....

I'd pass on both, but if forced to choose I'd take #1.

Not crazy about the centering on #1, especially for what the grade probably is considering it's overall sharpness.
#2 is centered really nicely, but in the pic those 2 lower corners just look pretty bad when compared to #1.

Either way I'd be looking for a really nice price given the grade on either one, knowing that I can flip it if another one that I HAVE to have comes along. At the right price you may even make a little $$ when you trade "up".

I would take # 2 then get it autographed and put into a graded blue flip.

Depending on the price, I would take both image

Centering to me is number 1 but the color on this card makes a huge impression.

Martin, I am very familiar with card #2. I nearly purchased it earlier this week, which was why I was selling my Cobb T-206 Red Portrait. Fortunately the buyer on the Cobb wanted 30 days to pay me, so I used that as valid reason after thinking about it overnight, to not sell my Cobb, and informed the seller of Aaron #2 that I was going to pass. What scared me away, and you will see if you blow the card and brighten the image is:

A: There is a nice little chunk missing from the right edge of the card about half way down.
    B. The bottom two corners, especially the left corner is really soft for a 7. Its tough to see on the front scan, but get the back scan and look at the bottom corners of the card.

I think the centering on card #2 is great, but at the end of the day, I listened to a couple board members who opinions I value, along with my own opinion, decided that if I am going to fork over $2K for a card, it will be for an Aaron I am in love with. If it was my money, I wouldnt use it to purchase either of those cards.

    Good Luck, Hope that helps

Thanks Guys for the valued feedback, It's good to have second opinions when I have tunnel vision.

The 1954 Topps Aaron is truly a tough one.

Looks like I have some competition also image

    Appreciate the feedback!
