Why doesn't PSA grade uncataloged

I know if it's not in the bible then no grade but why don't they just encapsulate it and give the flip uncataloged 2011 then the set name or simply unknown after it. Seems like they loose money by issuing vouchers. I would think that the number of cards they see they should be able to outdo the bible as far as cataloging cards. No knock on the bible but if a set exists and not placed in the bible due to space limitations or whatever keeps them out why should PSA a card grading company care and not make their money in the grading of cards?

IMO, it allows them to avoid and S-ton of controversy. They stay out of the business of deciding what is or isn't "official", "mainstream", what is a variation, etc... Smart move on their part.

I'm not suggesting they throw out the bible or their rules on what grades but add to it add an uncataloged flip color or something because it still keeps them out of what is official business I'd think in the long run it would help catalog a lot of scarce sets. Then they can make more money when the set is cataloged redoing the flip to official standard.

i think once they started slabbing match books and adding them to player sets they opened the door to grading just about anything made of cardboard. Some cards like Cassius Clay 1965 Lampo should def be graded imo. This his first card that is an actual card and not hand cut. It should be considered his true rookie. While boxing cards are not that popular, Ali is. PSA should slab his first card.
Scans of most of my Misc rookies can be found <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://forums.collectors.com/m...y&keyword1=Non%20major">here
  • Yes, a Green Flip with at least the actual information on the card or an "unknown" if there is no identifying info would be a good start.

"Slippery slope" - once they start doing ANYTHING with uncataloged, they have attached their name to those items. The PSA slab means something, and opening the door to uncataloged stuff weakens their reputation.

The beef is with the bible makers - they shouldn't be able to use the limited print space excuse in this day and age.
