Selling experiences with "Probstein123" Loving it!

Let me first say I have been buying cards for the last 3 years, and when I mean buying well, serious impulse buying!! For instance I just went on a 10 card Blake Griffin auto buying spree. Hope they will be a good investment....
Anyway I have sold on ebay off and on, and with 3 kids my business and my wife's cancer it is too much. I have bought from Rick Probstein ebay seller Probstein123 several times and finally took notice to his accepting items to sell. He sells a lot of sports items/cards, but has a bit of a variety. He usually has about 17,000 to 18,000 items for sale at all times. He has feedback of almost 28,000 and at 100%.
I called him back at the beginning of February and had a nice talk with him and he explained the whole process. Listing days, his fees to list for you etc.
So he just received my 4th shipment I sent to him today, and he called to do a quick walk through. He has done this every time, and emails me when my items go live. He has sold maybe about 5K for me so far and I AM VERY PLEASED. The day following when my items end, he emails me a detailed excel spreadsheet and deposits the money into my account. It has been that easy!
I have read through lots of threads when someone here talks about a great experience. I know there was a thread a few weeks back talking about him and the great experiences buying from him. This is about selling with him. Thought it would be some good info.
I copied and pasted the fee schedule he has and sent to my email when we started. Thanks for reading,

View Vintage Football Cards For Sale
Curious about one thing and I have bought form Probstein before with no complaints, so this isn't a dig on him, but anyway my question. Does he ever actaully sell any of the High Dollar stuff he won from the two different Topps Vault auctions for $10-$30 and then priced at $300-$5000 an item in his store. I have looked at some of that stuff for years. You know the one color proofs of a single card, wrapper proofs or some of the original art, ect.ect.???

Not to say anything bad about him, just a little observation over the years. I watched a 1974 Topps Emblem he had listed for several hundred dollars. I finally found one last year for (I think) $20+.

The vintage PSA cards have sold for right around VCP for me. I get modern stuff graded too. He sold a 2010 Topps Football Brett Favre PSA 10 for $25.02 for me, a 2010 Topps Chrome Jason Heyward Auto PSA 8 for $33.99.
The fees in the first post are for the auctions only. I do believe he has other pricing if you want to do Buy it Now etc.
My thinking was the same as the pricing didn't seem too bad, and I don't have the time anymore to list, sell, ship, etc.
His following is pretty large it seems. You can just search his new auctions being listed Sunday through Thursday as those are the only days he lists auctions. There always seems to be a ton of stuff being listed and sold. He told me he did 2.5 million in sales last year and has 5 employees. I have no idea if that is true or not, but I always use my 70/30 rule and even if it was almost 2 million he has to have a good following.

Hopefully he currently researches his consigned cards better. I dont follow him but know he has sold some bad cards. Something any large volume seller will do unknowingly but it's the sellers responsibility to know your product and stand behind it if you want to stay reputable. I recall the Pujols 1/1 buyback (pic avail) being pulled down ( 10629122706 ) but I recall 2 other auctions with fakes being left up and sold, even after being notified....He said he was going to research one buyback I contacted him about and I gave him proof. There was another on ebay and his was the fake one but I guess my proof wasn't enough as it went the distance.
He sold some of these 1989 FF B/W cards before. Or he ended the auction early. I didn't follow it to the end but remember emailing him that they were fake and provided proof. That was months ago. This one was recent. $78 of fake cards sold.....

1956 Topps #31 Hank Aaron Braves HOF PSA 3 Gray Back $47.51 $4.16 $0.20 $0.30 $1.19 $41.66 $35.41
1957 Topps 18 Don Drysdale Dodgers Rookie RC PSA 2 GOOD $41.00 $3.59 $0.20 $0.30 $1.03 $35.89 $30.50

1965 Topps #134 Mickey Mantle Yankees HOF PSA 4 VG-EX $27.51 $2.41 $0.20 $0.30 $0.69 $23.91 $20.33
These 6 cards sold for $297.52 and I recieved $230.06 or 77% the next day. I didn't pay a fee, I didn't do any work, and I received my money the very next day before they were even shipped. He said if I wanted to at some point I could have my cards once graded by PSA sent directly to him or through him. He would just like to be able to sell some if possible.
For me where I am at, I'll take that. These are just a few of the almost 300 or so he has sold for me. I haven't sold any of my bigger ticket items. Those are in my PC for now.
The best part is I didn't half to file a claim, send any emails or invoices, or stop by the Post office.
You are correct as he only takes 5% on items over $100.

You know how many different posts I've read in the past year about Ebay fees, raising prices, Buy it Nows, listing days, paypal, etc, etc. This is just an alternative to selling on your own.
He also told me if I ever needed an advance to let him know. I don't, but good to know and assume that is for anyone.
Hope this was good info to share with all of you. I don't have any knowledge of fakes being sold and don't care what his Buy it Now's are at. There are so many BS Buy it Nows on Ebay it sometimes makes me laugh.
Take care,

<< <i>I am on this forum all the time, and hardly ever post. I have never met Rick, but can tell he is a good guy and just wanted to share with everyone my experiences over the past 5 weeks or so. I first bought a 1984 Topps Baseball Cello case about 3 years back and have watched his inventory and sales ever since.
