Can anyone tell me more abou this baseball sign?

I found this in a closet in my parents house. My mother said it was passed down from someone in her family. There are no markings on it. There is no team or name or number of the player.

It stands about 2 foot tall. Its all carved from wood.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

let us know if you find out..
Thanks,

Here is a little bigger picture. I am wondering if any one knows any information about it, or roughly how much it might be worth?
<< <i>I couldn't really tell in the first picture because it was so small, but since you put that huge high resolution picure up I can clearly tell that it is indeed a baseball player. Hope this helps. >>
This is the only other picture I had available. If you were unable to help, you could have kept your comments to yourself.

You really need to calm down... He was just verifying something you had already said....
I'll do it too...
Hey he has a bat, looks like a ball player.
Should I keep my comments to myself on a public forum?
I was about to spend the 30 minutes I had before going out trying to research and help find out what that is, but it seems you really don't care for people to help or you would say thanks for the help and wait for someone to post the correct information instead of flipping out at someone for saying something.
<< <i>Got into your photobucket through opening the pic in a new tab.... and you have your camera set weird (that is the full size photo)... So there is nothing on our end that we can chance to get a bigger photo, you need have the camera set to normal size (Not sure why it would ever be that size)

Good thing I care about what people think over the internet...
Oh wait....
Can't really tell.
My Registry Sets
If it's been "passed down" - and that's accurate - then it probably isn't new.
If it's wood - and no markings? I'm guessing it's an item that's purchased and "personalized" by a store - perhaps a tobacco shop?
It's a cool item - and if it can be "dated" and authenticated as turn of the century - meaning of the 20th century - it would be desired by that group of collectors.
I agree with those - if you could try taking another picture? It would be fun to see it better.
Thanx for sharing.
edit: here's kinda what I was talking about:

Mike, Thanks for the feed back. I will work on getting a better picture in the mean time.

Here are a few more pictures. Any additional feedback is appreciated.

.... There was no need for me to calm down. I was calm throughout. Corvette1340 was not trying to verify anything. He was trying to be a wise ass. His comments were not needed. What do you base your assumption on that I do not care for people to help? Almost every post I have put up I have said thanks or any help would be appreciated. I never flipped out, or grew angry. I simply asked that comments that are not helpful be kept to themselves.
Why are you so defensive of Corvette1340 anyway? The discussion between him and I had nothing to do with you.
I found this thing and joined this board for help trying to get some information on it. I love how everyone's a tough guy through the internet. I simply asked for some assistance, I was not looking for an argument. Truth be told, if anyone would like to discuss this in person, feel free to contact me. We will then see how tough some of you are.
good luck with the item. looks like a neat piece and i hope it is very rare and unique.

<< <i>it does indeed look like he is "non-caucasian" as steve suggested. i love ol' steve and definitely would not want to meet him in a dark alley. mike's assertion that it is tobacco related might also be spot on. i love ol' mike too. i believe he served in the military and would most definitely not want to me him in a dark alley. what a tag-team combo those two would make, eh. mike would probably finish opponents off with something subtle like the sleeper hold, whereas steve would likely just kick his opponent in the nuts.

Now that's funny!
BTW - I'm retired military.

Got a suggestion - I would consider showing it across the street - net54 memorabilia section.
You will have to join in order to post it - but that should just take a few extra moments.
net54.
What we do know is that it appears to be a cool piece.
Do you know what type of wood it's carved from?
Mahogany?
IMO if it's a Negro related item it may be more valuable than a white piece.
But you would have to find the right buyer. Many folks collect black Americana though.
Eyebone.........................lmao
