Lady of Spain - Nuestra Senora de Monserrate

I could not resist this old St. Benedict pilgrimage medal. And I learned of the lovely hymn, "Virolai."

What's the date range on that piece? I can tell it's old, like 18th or early 19th century, but it's hard for me to tell.

Cast, or just softly struck and subsequently worn? Interesting item.

What were these given as? Which pilgrimage?

The vendor advised me that it is 18th century and in fact, from the little I know, this does appear to be the case. I believe that it is a struck piece, rather than cast.
The medal references the Black Madonna at Monserrate, in Catalonia, Spain.

Old handled medals do appeal to me as they indirectly bring me into contact with lifetimes so many years ago.
Sometimes, they lead to something else such as learning of the hymn that is sung at the Monastery School of Montserrat.
