The 1889 small JH shillings have just become a bit more complicated. There is a one die that is a 9/7 and presumably could be more, though other examples show no indication of the feature. Sorry about the crappy scan, but in the hand there is a clear angle of the top left corner of a 7, there is a trace of the left side of the top bar protruding beyond the edge of the 9, there are 2 blobs in the correct position for the downward stroke of the 7 and a raised feature on the thin section of the 9 where it crosses the base of the previous 7. So an old die has been filled and recut. Presumably this die could also be paired with a large JH obverse, though until Friday I hadn't looked for it.
