NEW QUESTIONS

Thanks for the responses. As suggested will be brief. I have a couple of platinum proof one ounce and about 5 of the proof 1/2 ounce eagles I bought from the U.S. Mint the first year they came out . I would like to have them graded. How do I choose a PCGS grader that will not replace my coin with one not as good a grade as mine. Sorry, no offense to anyone. I know human nature and I am sure that most of the PCGS listed graders are reputable. How can I make sure that I get one who is. Thanks. Any recommendations. Would it be advisable to have them graded or they now only precious metals. Next question. I have some 1921-28 dollars that don't look to be in good condition and . some that do. Is there any premium to them? Is it worth the expense to have them graded? Other than APMEX are there any other places to sell your coins to? Next question. I am 70 years old and not really computer literate as most of you. I would like to learn how to take photos of my coins and put them on this forumn. Any suggestions as to how to do it or where can I go to learn? Many Thanks. Aidens grandpa

Sell your junk silver on the BST,
Use PhotoBucket to post your photos on this forum.
Most precious metal bullion is simply that... precious metal. You can see the current values for precious metals in my signature line. For coins, use Coinflation.
will grade. They just provide the service of encapsulation and grading. You cannot pick
your own grader. However, that being said you will get an honest grading of your coins.
That statement cannot be said for some of the bottom tier graders. PCGS is a publicly
traded company and has the respect of the collecting community.

A few links down in that thread is This thread about posting photos using photobucket.

I think he was asking how to pick or who to use as his PCGS authorized dealer (submitter).
You can also look at this guide and see if you have any date/mintmark dollars that might be better than average.
Also you will find your platinum eagles in this guide and see what I am talking about in 70s versus lower grades.

Your best deal would be to join PCGS and submit the coins directly to PCGS for grading. With one type of membership (Platinum Membership?) you receive 8 free coin gradings.

If one of your Platinum Proofs is judged to be flawless under 5X magnification and receives a grade of DCAM PR-70, the half ounce coins are listed at over $3,000 in the PCGS Price Guide, and the 1 oz. coin is listed at $10,000 in the price guide. If the coins have never been removed from their mint capsules, it might be worth having them graded.

If your coins are graded and encapsulated by PCGS, then they could be sold on ebay to realize fair value. There is also a Buy-Sell-Trade forum here at PCGS that is free for coin listings. PCGS graded and encapsulated coins are the easiest coins to sell because they are recognized as having been professionally-evaluated, so that the buyer knows what he is bidding on.
I knew it would happen.
