The best PSA 6 Nolan Ryan I've ever owned....

I normally don't complain about grades that much as I've done really well for the most part and the graders have been pretty good to me, but I think this one is undergraded. It's from the '70 set I bought at the Atlanta show and all of the other stars I sent in got 7's and 8's. The bottom right corner has a little ding but the other 3 are pretty good. The centering is perfect, the surface is perfect, the edges are perfect, and the back is perfect. I've seen worse cards in 8 holders and certainly 7's and 7.5's in worse condition. Thoughts?

Nolan don't look so pleased about it either, like he wants to give Robin Ventura a knuckle sammich or something.

I'm at work right now, but I have a PSA 7 Ryan. Your card looks like a 7 to me. I would definitely re-sub it.

That lower-right ding killed the card's grade. Nice looking card though.

I'm the lone wolf, but I think it's the centering that did you in. Especially t/b.

That card should be at least a 7, no doubt about it. PSA 7 cards do not have perfect corners. The corners are not perfect, but they definitely look good enough for a 7 to me. Centering on that card is not an issue at all. I've seen worse PSA 9's on centering.

  • the lower right corner ding is what ails this card.
  • Rutgers got screwed this week worse than you did......

I agree and I also see the bottom left corner has slight ding too. I think the 2 corner dings and the centering L/R is why it is in the holder it is in. The card definitely has great eye appeal. If the scanner is playing tricks and the 2 bottom corners aren't as bad as they appear on the scan. Then I would crack it and resub.

Left to right centering is 50/50. I'm not sure what you're seeing.

That card does not look 50/50 at the L/R border on top. As it gets to the bottom it does look like it becomes 50/50 though. Maybe it's the scan making it appear that way?

It's tilted just a tad in the holder in the scan.

That is a really good looking Ryan and it was a tough grade. The centering is very nice and the only flaw is that bottom right corner.

I would resub it. It looks more like a 7 then a 6 to me. This whole time I been looking at the card and not the grade. image

Here are a couple of my PSA 6 disappointments , both had just 1 corner dinged but was enough to drop them to 6's (ouch)
  • twileytwiley Posts: 1,923
    Think those are disappointing.

For the life of me I don't know why this got the grade that it did.
