WHAT DO i HAVE

Hi all: I just joined with this thread. I had a retail shop selling sportscards from 1986-1990 in Knoxville Tn. The name of the shop was Precious Memories collectables. I sold my shop but kept all of my cards. I have about 2 million cards now and would like to have some idea of what I have and their value. If anyone is interested in talking to me than please email me at aidensgrandpa@charter.net Thanks

the only thing worth looking for from that era is 86 topps football 89 score football, 89 upper deck baseball, and any Fleer basketball from 86-89.

    Welcome to the board.

Going to have to give more detailed info on what you have because I can't tell if your saying you have cards from 1986 to 1990 or that you had a shop from 1986 to 1990? I assume it means the shop was open from that time period but like I said need much more info for anyone to be able to help you out.

  • Love to hear what you have.

2 million cards! If you could look at one per second, 24 hours a day, it would still take 3+ weeks to go through them all.

Perfectly stacked edge-to-edge, I roughly estimate a 7 ft. x 7 ft. block of cards 6 feet high. Assuming they are not perfectly compressed, there must be a garage/storage unit full of cards!!

That's when he first asked if his cards were worth anything.....I believe the majority of the board told him that they were too new, and he needed to wait a little while before he sold him as they were currently worthless. I guess 6 years is long enough to make them worth something now.....

    Hi Allen and welcome!

I would guess you had quite a bit of experience in those 4 yrs of running a shop...

Ya know? The more things change - the more they stay the same.

How much true vintage did you have? Condition?

Have you been out of the hobby since 1990? Need way more detail.

I fear you're gonna have a lot of overproduced cardboard. Good luck. Don't be a stranger.

he said he had the shop from 86-90 so I'm assuming he didn't just stock current cards.

the demand for high grade vintage cards has increased greatly with the advent of grading, as others have said, tell us what you have... ie years, etc... surely your boxes are at least marked by year/brand?
  • I would give them all to Aiden.
  • What do you have?

A whole sh%t trove of worthless paper pulp. Welcome to the boards.

  • Hey all. Well I certainly received a range of different reactions to my post. I may have worded it badly. My intention was to save my collection and give them to my children or grandchildren. I haven't touched thems since I closed my shop in 90. Someone asked me about my joining in 2005. I didn't remember that I had joined then until I had tried to register for a membership. I know I have a lot of junk. But I ethink I have some good stuff. I really don't know what I have. It has been a long time. I have a lot of 70's stuff and a good bit of 60s and a few 50s. Wish I had the 52 Mantle but no I don't. I have a complete set of 64 Topps and quite a bit of sealed cases. I know I have 3 cases of 89 Upper Deck baseball. They were at one time worth somthing but I doubt that is true now. I may Later start going through them just to see what I have. Aidens Grandpa

I think the only way to see what you have $$ wise is to look through some of it and check going rates on ebay for similar stuff. With the 89 UD cases and some other good stuff give BBC Exchange a call they are good buyers of unopened, in fact their "buyer" posts here. I'd sell just about anything that you can get decent $$ for and put the cash away for the grandkids. Savings bonds, CD's etc.

No sense in storing the stuff, risking loss or damage of it, it'll most likely only lose more value from here on out. If you owned a shop than you probably have enough knowledge not to get taken or cherry picked, just be aware that alot of it will be pure junk but if you require a buyer to take some of the "bad" to get the "good" then you should be OK.

    Hi Allen

Sounds like you may have some fun stuff to review?

My advice? Take your time - since you have intention of selling...

Have fun with it! Go thru it - perhaps checklist inventory what you have?

If you want to trim the heard? Some stuff is just plain impossible to sell - but you can donate.

Either way - good luck - you have a golden opportunity to reacquaint yourself to your collection - sounds like an adventure!

If you scan - please post anything cool - if ya have the time?

I enjoy reading this kind of stuff.

To be honest - I have no idea what's hiding in the depths of my closet? image
