Woohoo, my NGC Ancients submission is finalized and shipped!

It's been a long month of waiting.

No surprises on the grades, really. The Julius Caesar was a bit charitable- I'd have said G or even AG on it. The Domitian is a slight disappointment- I was hoping for Ch XF or AU. The other three are about as expected. Really, the technical grades don't mean a whole lot to me, which begs the question of why I wanted them in slabs anyway. I guess just... because.

Wow, surprised someone who is into ancients wanted them slabbed. Usually ancient collectors detest the plastic tombs. I know I do, lol.

    Congrats eitherway.

Mine too was shipped 2 days ago; I have a 1910 French Indo-China Piastre that NGC thinks is not genuine image and I thought I was very advance in detecting French Indo-China counterfeit image Anyway congrats image

If you ever plan to sell Ancient coins on ebay, you will find they are easier, and bring higher prices, if they are slabbed. At least that has been my experience.

I am not very involved in either getting coins graded, nor ancients (but I have a few, raw.)

I have heard although NGC will grade Ancients, they do not neccesarly authenticate them. I thought that was odd, but do not know enough one way or another. Is there sepearte levels of service, or something missing from that piece of advice? thanks (sorry to change topic slightly.)

    Nice grades!

I know nothing about ancients. I do have several though that LordM sent me once as a giveaway prize. A couple Greek, a couple Roman, a couple Byzantine, and a Chinese.

It is true that NGC does not absolutely guarantee authenticity, although they will of course return any coin that they do not believe to be genuine. And if the technical grades don't really mean so much to me, again that begs the question of why I'd send them off to be entombed in plastic.

I suppose it's because I wanted them that way. And yes, the slabs DO certainly help the eventual resale value.

I like to handle ancient coins and wonder who handled them before.
