If LeBron is $599 Jordan seems like a bargain at $699. I still need a Jordan signature for my White Sox colletion. I remember Mike (Navarro) had a 1991 UD Jordan baseball card for sale that was awesome. That being said, even if he was signing baseball cards his signature isn't worth nearly $700 to me.

I would love to get the SI issue signed with him and Perkins on the front cover, touting that UNC was #1 - I wonder why he won't sign SI's?

I wouldn't pay LeBron $599 to sign six $100 bills.

OK, but that won't stop me from getting on your case will it?
  • I just send them an e-mail.

Subject: Michael Jordan send-in brick for private signing
Message: Hi, do you know if MJ will sign a brick from Chicago Stadium that has previously been signed by Bobby Hull? There is no authentication of the Hull signature, but I witnessed it in person, and I can get it authenticated by JSA prior to sending it in for this signing. Thanks.

I'll post the response when they write back.

The great MJ has no idea what a brick is.

MJ's price seems like a steal compared to LJ's.
  • IF I wanted an MJ auto, I'd rather just spend a bit less to get one of his lower-end Upper Deck Certified Autograph cards.

Having said that, I'm guessing a lot of people will spend the money to get their photos and basketballs signed.

AMAZING that people will pay those amounts. BUT, I guess if you have a lot of cash, why not if you want it!

Perhaps Lebron could book an hour on ESPN and tell everyone why his auto is worth $599?

    "Molon Labe"

  • Most of the price in players autographs (like this event) are normally from meeting them..... Not for just their ink...

I think it's stupid if that guy is getting those prices for everything that is being shipped out and whatnot.
  • I would think it's the promoters that set the price. When Upper Deck is involved, you get higher than normal prices. LeBron's price is a joke, meeting Jordan and getting a pic and sig from him.....that is different. For $699 though.....I'll wait until Upper Deck goes bankrupt.

Edit to add: I see it's just a send in program....greedy F*in Upper Deck. I hope they go belly up.

Honestly, those prices are an absolute joke.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Jordan 16x20 photos routinely sell in the $600-800 range. The price they're charging is reasonable, especially if they apply a 10% coupon. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time he's accepting send-ins for a signing, so I don't see what all the fuss is about.

On the LeBron prices, I can't imagine why anyone would want his autograph, so I guess you're right about him.

Bob, I can assume you're not a Heat fan? I concur with you 100% BTW
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

Let's just say that if you want to build your own team, then buy one first. This, and the NFL thing, have me convinced that players should play and not try to be quasi-owners.

  • I bet his certifieds start dropping now that he is doing private signings. His certified autograph cards are still around $300 on the low end and he has ton of them out there. Lebron is a Ripoff, 7 Years and No Championships and he is not even that great a Scorer. LeBron is Good, but Beyond Overrated. LeBron is not even Oscar Robertson let alone Jordan.
  • Those Prices are Insane. You might be able to find a 1986 Fleer Signed for Less. Jordan Autograph Prices are Going To Crash BigTime. He is not even 50 and has many years of signing ahead of him. Nobody is Giving him $30 Million to play Basketball and the Endorsements are drying up for him. He be signing like crazy in the next few years. Bill Russell and Mark McGwire Autographs crashed so will Jordan!

I don't collect autos - as such - but do have a bunch.

    700$? I'll pass.

Jordan is one of the few I think of when I think of who I believe are true legends in sports. That fee is not bad for Jordan if you need him on a particular piece and it's in one of the categories of items that he signs. This is not the first send in signing he has had. Jordan UDA send in signings are actually quite routine. I don't see his signing fee dropping any in the future. He'll never "need" the money IMO, and if you need him on a particular piece, then you don't have a whole lot of options.

Really only three options if you want it Upper Deck Authenticated:

    1) Participate in one of the send in signings - however he won't do cards at them
    2) Have a child get it for you at his Youth Flight Camp in Santa Monica (he will sign cards here), and the tuitiion is actually very reasonable at around $700 or so, especially if you can send your kid and they are a Jordan fan.
    3) Attend an adult Flight Camp and pay a much higher fee (he will sign cards here as well), but you'll get to hang out and play basketball with him as well

If you don't care about the quality of the sig, and the UDA authentication, you can occasionally get him on the golf course, or every now and then in person elsewhere. Several of UDA's contract signers participate in these send in signings if you are interested including Jordan, Tiger, Lebron and others. Tiger won't sign cards either at these.

I know, god. He just won the last 2 MVP's; i'd rather crawl to work tomorrow through the city's sewer system than own his autograph.

I will be glad to sell my red Nike jersey with tags signed by Jordan for that price.
  • The answer was no on the brick.
  • The $699 price is for him to sign a flat, if you want a jersey signed by him, it'll cost you $1200
