For soccer purists it is useless. Its just not soccer.
Martin Nash's brother has played for Vancouver Whitecaps for some time an has been an all-star a few times. Martin had contemplated playing two sports a few times, but Vancouver have played in many leagues since the NASL folded (1984). They were Canadian Champs and USL Champions (2nd division). Now they back in the top league again.
They are in a hotbed of soccer in the Norrthwest - Seattle Sounders (35,000 season ticket holders), and Portland (up from USL) have sold out their season tickets in 1st MLS year.
