PCGS Wants to Reholder A Coin

got an email from PCGS the other day..inquiring about a coin I had in the registery set.....seems I have a 66 SMS washington slabbed designated MS67CAM but the certification number indicates it is a DCAM....so here is the question....should I send the slab coin back in and have the certication number corrected as they want to do....or should I ask to have the coin regraded and hope for higher???

comments appreciated!

Is it a DCAM? They should be able t0 fix the number without the coin, so it sounds like they want to see the coin again to make sure which designation it should have, and have the database list it correctly.

  • Similiar thing happened to me...They wanted me to send back a coin for reholdering because there was a problem with the numbering. If you ask nicely, they will pay for return shipping. I took advantage of the opportunity and submitted some coins to be graded as well and got the free return shipping.

  • Wish I could find coins labeled CAM that were DCAMs! Did you get a good deal on the coin or did you make it? The only thing they ever screw up on my inserts are the dates image ***huh?**

Paul, can you post an image of the coin so we can see the cameo contrast? I'd be interested to see if it might have a shot at dcam. Of course a 66 SMS in 67cam is nothing to sneeze at.

Charge them $20 S/H, and a $30 reholdering fee. Then get their money, wait 6 weeks, send them an email saying that they still haven't paid, get them to send you a receipt and then mail them the coin

Of course this is if you do NOT want an upgrade
