Nifty 1986 Singapore DCAM proof silver round(?) with stalking tiger

I found this in with some stuff today (mixed in with my holey coin collection, strangely enough). Must've got it in a trade a while back. I vaguely remember the trade- I think I swapped a circulated US Hard Times Token for it, sight-unseen. The fella who swapped it to me thought this was a coin and described it. I was looking at some of the proof commems for Singapore that year to try and figure out what he was describing. (I guess 1986 was the Year of the Tiger?) I couldn't find an exact match, and when it arrived, I realized it was a silver round. I thought I was maybe getting a $25-30-ish coin in trade for my HTT of equal value so at the time a silver round was a slight disappointment- silver was worth maybe $15-16-ish per ounce at the time. But I liked the piece, and the proof contrast was nice, so I told my trade partner not to worry about it- it was a done deal.

Fast forward several years to today, and I rediscovered the piece. Somebody on BST was wanting to buy silver, including rounds, so I made offhand mention of it. I hadn't scanned it yet. Suddenly I got a phone call from a forum member on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, who wanted to buy it if the other guy passed. I told him I'd edit my BST post sine the other guy wasn't online, and would sell him this piece at spot.

Spot is over $36 today, so I ended up getting what I'd wanted out of this piece after all. image

The new owner wants sneak-preview pictures. I can't believe that my scanner actually did this well with them. Of course I scanned it in its plastic holder, so a lot of the scuffs and haze and stuff are from the plastic.

Neat piece, and not a bad way for my customer to own a little bullion, wouldn't you say?

I posted it here in case any of y'all had more information for him. (Edit to add- it's pretty much standard silver round size- about the diameter of an ASE- maybe a teeny bit bigger around than a silver dollar.)

You were collecting already at 12? image

Nice coin Rob and good timing in rediscovering it. You should perhaps use your metal detector at home to find all these missing coins. image

I wish I could relocate all my lost coins at home, it's getting really serious lately, I'm now losing slabs too, on top of the many MIA inexpensive raw coins. image
