Providence Show Cancelled

I was looking forward to attending my first larger card show in years (hoping to hit the National this year, just started collecting again about 6 months ago) - I check today and the show has been cancelled due to no dealer interest. UGHHH!!!!

I can't even find a card shop within an hour from me - I'm in the NW Corner of CT. Twice I've driven an hour to a card shop that I found online - one time it was some guys basement, and it was locked. The other time this other place was closed on Sunday....

It sucks because I have my kids involved in collecting, and our "local" card shop has become Target.

Doesn't surprise me that dealers were lacking...I used to do a monthly show in Canton Ohio until about three years ago. It wasn't that i didn't want to do the show anymore but after having about six months worth of shows when I made absolutely peanuts it just wasn't worth it anymore...used to drive an hour set up on Sundays, stay all day after paying my $100 table fees and make anywhere from 25-50 bucks....I am sure it's even worse now. Online selling has really impacted shows unless they are major ones. al.

I set up at my local Indianapolis show once a month and most often make at least 3 to 4 hundred per show. I don't think shows are dead at all. With ebay being militant on small sellers and the tax issue I see more and more hits being sold at shows and not flipped on ebay as much.

Currently completing the following registry sets: Cardinal HOF's, 1961 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1972 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1980 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, Bill Mazeroski Master & Basic Sets, Roberto Clemente Master & Basic Sets, Willie Stargell Master & Basic Sets and Terry Bradshaw Basic Set

out of curiosity do you have older stuff or a combination of old and the new.....when I was setting up it was new stuff along with supplies and to be honest I just couldn't swing it, especially since I didn't have corporate accounts with Topps or any of the other companies......
