My Daviess County Panthers (HS b-ball) are going to the Sweet Sixteen (State Tournament) in Rupp Are

I've got some very exciting news for all of you! My Daviess County Panthers (I'm class of 1999) have won the 3rd Region Championship (against the defending champion Muhlenburg County 64-63 no less!) and we are going to State!! But of course we don't have our State Tournament just anywhere, no sir, we have it in RUPP ARENA!! I believe this is only our third trip to the State Tournament since our 1958 State Runner-Up finish (we last went in 2003 where we came within a very controversial last second shot of making the state semifinals).

And what makes it even more exciting is that in Kentucky (except for football) we don't do any of that 1A, 2A, 3A BS. No sir, we have only ONE champion and that's what makes it so special. In fact, last year a school with only 600 students beat the sixth largest school in the state to claim the state title.

Obviously our school is not known for its basketball (cross country is our claim to fame) so that's all the more reason I'm so excited!! image

Now if only my college alla matter has the same luck in the Big Dance. image

Daviess County: 2011 3rd Region Champions!!

Good luck to your alma mater.....mine was 0-21 this year....at least my son's team was 5-17 and won their first sectional game. They got blown out their second but the team they lost to was Revere who has Larry Nance's son on it and they have only one loss this season.....my son's teams has two six foot kids with the tallest being 6-2 and he is a reserve. Revere started Nance who is 6-7 along with another 6-6 kid and their starting point guard is 6-3. First two subs for their team were 6-8 and 6-5......only good thing about the game was my son got the most playing time in a game then he has had all season which should help him for next year when he along with six other kids on his team are seniors.
