Fashion in the early 1600s

I was thrilled to see this set of 4 Austrian Hall talers arrive today from our fellow forum member Zohar. They have probably already been posted at some point over the last few years, but I thought that it would be interesting to see them all at once to compare the fashion of the period. One of the many aspects of coins that I enjoy is the intriguing snapshots of history that we are able to see through coin designs and themes.

I am glad they will be safeguarded by a specialized collector as yourself.

They really knew how to mint these beauties back then depicting the fashion of the time.

Very nice Talers. Maximilian is very hard to find in nice grades. I like the design on the 1613.

Ahh, yes, the days when men wore lace and codpieces.

Of course you can't see the codpieces on those.

That's one of the reasons I collect World coins, a really good history lesson in every coin.
