Shipping charge includes 65 cents for gas...

HI,
I CHARGE 2.90 FOR SHIPPING - THAT INCLUDES $1.50 FOR POSTAGE , .75 FOR THE ENVELOPE, AND .65 FOR GAS. OF COURSE, I ALSO COVER THE EBAY LISTING FEE, FINAL SALES FEE, PAYPAL FEES, PSA GRADING FEES, PSA SHIPPING FEES TO & FROM PSA, PSA MANDATORY INSURANCE, AND LASTLY THE COST TO BUY THE CARD ITSELF WHETHER IT BE BY ME DRIVING TO FIND IT OR BUYING IT ON THE INTERNET MYSELF, IT COSTS ME MONEY! I HOPE IM NOT MAKING YOU UPSET BY MY 2.90 SHIPPING FEE AND NO TRACKING NUMBER THAT COSTS ME ANOTHER .75 CENTS?? WITH ALL OF THAT IN MIND WHEN WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A CARD THAT I SOLD FOR 9.99 - I HOPE THAT HELPS YOU UNDERSTAND MY SIDE?

I HAD A PAYPAL AGENT TELL ME THAT THEY WILL CLOSE PEOPLES ACCOUNTS THAT FILE MULTIPLE CLAIMS WHEN SELLERS PROVIDE SHIPPING RECEIPTS. THE FIRST CLAIM IS NO BIG DEAL,HOWEVER, PAYPAL LOOKS TO SEE IF BUYERS MAKE AN ADDTIONAL CLAIM FOR THE SAME REASON. IF THAT SELLER PROVIDES A RECEIPT AS WELL, WATCH WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOUR ACCOUNT WITH PAYPAL. NO LINK FOR THAT, JUST FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF I GUESS. LIKE I SAID, FILE A CLAIM AND I WILL TOO. WE WILL BOTH GET OUR MONEY BACK REAGARDLESS. IM JUST WARNING YOU THAT IT IS YOUR FREE PASS WITH PAYPAL WHETHER YOU BELIEVE ME OR NOT.

Dear thecardguhru2010,

Hi Tom,
For the amount that you charged for shipping, there was enough to cover the delivery confirmation fee. Is there a reason why you didn't use it? As far as a limit on the number of claims that can be made, I'm not aware of it. How many can you make, and please provide a link to back it up.
Thank you,
Duane Tom

Dear dgtom,

HI, I SHIPPED YOUR CARD ON FEB 26TH AT 1:15 PM. YOUR PACKAGE WAS 1ST CLASS PARCEL 1.60 OZ ALAMEDA CA. 94501 ZONE 4 - OBVIOUSLY YOUR CARD WOULD HAVE ARRIVED BY NOW AND I CAN PROVIDE MY RECEIPT TO PAYPAL. YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO FILE A CLAIM WITH PAYPAL AS "NOT RECEIVED" AND I WONT FIGHT YOUR CASE. I WILL HOWEVER PROVIDE MY PAPERWORK TO PAYPAL. THE BAD THING FOR YOU IS THAT YOU WILL BE USING YOUR FREE PASS WITH PAYPAL OVER A 10.00 CARD AND NOW YOUR CLAIM WILL BE ON FILE IN CASE YOU MAKE ANOTHER CLAIM IN THE FUTURE. ITS UP TO YOU ON HOW YOU WANT TO HANDLE IT. JUST LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS SOMETHING I CAN DO TO HELP YOU.

BEST REGARDS, TOM

Sounds like a seller that is tired of his shipping charges being complained about. More power to him and nobody is forcing a buyer on the card. His response to the complaint the OP had seems to be a reflection of previous negative experiences.

The problem is he did not put DC on it and is trying to scare the buyer into not filing an INR.

I have a hunch that the guy who sold the card was pissed that he didn't get enough for it, so he never sent it. I haven't asked him to send me a copy of the receipt from USPS with the destination printed on it, but maybe I will. And Toro, I was not complaining about his shipping charges, merely pointing out that there was enough to include DC.

Btw, I'm surprised he didn't tack on a laundry charge for the clean drawers he wore to get to the P.O. Or worse yet, he went commando.

If he's going to rat on you about Paypal policies, rules, allowances, etc...

Feel free to rat on him about eBay (I've found providing this to stupid sellers usually shuts them up)...

What you're not allowed to charge (In the Shipping & Handling fee)

Insurance: You can't charge a separate fee for insurance, although you still need to make sure your item arrives as described.

Tip: You should incorporate any insurance fees into an item's price or handling cost.

Tariffs, duties, and customs fees: For cross-border transactions, you're not allowed to collect tariffs, duties, or customs fees. (Buyers may be responsible for paying these fees as required by country laws.)

Tip: Remember not to inappropriately classify an item as a gift as a way to avoid certain duties, tariffs, or customs fees. U.S. law prohibits submitting false or misleading customs information.

Related fees: Things like gas, mileage, time spent at a carrier, employee wages, or eBay and PayPal fees should not be added.

    eBay's Seller Practices Policy
  • Does anyone other than me think that this guy is just messing with you?

File the claim and be done with it... If he wasn't an idiot he would print the label with paypal and get free conf, but he is... And didn't... Just file say not received and be done with it.
  • It's obviously not a hard & fast rule, but people who type in all caps are much more likely to be batsh*t crazy than people who do not type in all caps.

Also, with gas prices nowadays, his PO could be across the street and it would still cost him at least 65 cents to get there. Hey-ohhhhhhhh!!!!

I actually just bought a $25 graded card from him last week. He charged his standard $2.90 cents shipping (which isn't horrible)...packed well in a bubble mailer...with no delivery confirm. Not supplying the DC pretty much only hurts him as far as the buyer should be concerned.

  • bbuckner22bbuckner22 Posts: 1,028
DC is $.19 when you print your postage online. Why would anyone not want to spend that to keep your self protected?
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

$2.90 is reasonable for shipping nowadays. Again, the DC only protects the seller. I mean honestly, if you paid $2.90 for shipping and got your card, would you be upset if it didnt have a DC sticker on it? The USPS has jacked bubble mailer rates up from 64 cents to 1.22 for once ounce, DOUBLE in the past year. Right now, it is a good market to buy items you like, but the people that complain about shipping prices are going to start running sellers off. If he advertises $2.90 before hand, that is what HE charges to get the item to you, regardless of HOW her does it.

That being said, his description is a little long winded, but like was mentioned before, he probably had a string of morons complaining about shipping. I did that myself, felt bad about it, but couldnt do anything about it once I did it.

Nightcrawler, the original email is at the bottom of the post, the most recent is at the top. If you guys would like to read the latest installment, I'll post more. If you think I'm piling on, I'll let it go.
  • If it's anything like the all-caps lunatic ranting you showed us in the first post, I could go for some more of that.

    Dear dgtom,

I AM A ONE FINGERED TYPER AND LEAVING IT ON CAPS LOOKS BETTER THAN NON CAPS I THINK? I AM NOT UPSET AT ALL? MY WORRIES IN LIFE GO WAY BEYOND THIS 10.00 SALE. MY FATHER HAS CANCER, I HAVE BEEN UNEMPLOYED FOR 2 YEARS PLUS, AND MY BROTHER HAS 2 BRAIN DISEASES THAT I AM DEALING WITH RIGHT NOW. OTHER THAN THAT, MAYBE I WOULD TAKE THIS SALE A LITTLE MORE AT HEART AS YOU ARE.

Filed a claim today, here's his response to the Resolution Center:

    Seller's message to you:
"I HAVE MY RECEIPT RIGHT HERE PROVING THAT I SHIPPED THIS CARD TO THE BUYER."

Does anyone know what measures the Resolution Center takes to verify if the item was shipped, such as requiring the seller to email a copy of the mailing receipt?
  • twileytwiley Posts: 1,923
The seller must provide proof of delivery when a paypal file is claimed. If the seller can not provide proof that the item has been delivered then paypal will always side with the buyer.
  • packCollectorpackCollector Posts: 2,786 ✭✭✭
on a 10 dollar card, I think paypal just pays the claims now as part of their protection. if he does not have dc then it is a no brainer anyway
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
    mailing receipt is meaningless.

DC or SC is the only valid proof.

Who care's what this nitwit claims?
    Good for you.
  • Yeah...the buyer loses on this one if the DC isn't recorded. I've had two items leave my city...arrive at the Baltimore post office...and never make it out of that sort facility. Buyer gets all of their money back from me...and I lose my items. Sucks for the seller...but I figure 2 items out of over 500 shipments isn't too terrible. I insure anything over $50 bucks now. It's worth the extra $1.85.

Well, today eBay customer support ruled in my favor, so I got back my costs including shipping. When I saw the seller's full name, it gave me a mild shock. The seller, Tom Yriarte, has a brother named Rodney. Three years ago, I won a 1971 OPC #709 Baylor/Baker rookie from Rodney for a very reasonable price of $150. I pay immediately and wait the requisite two weeks before I email him with "dude, where's my card?". Can't find it, he says, gonna have to refund you. I get the refund, and within six weeks, the card goes back up for sale, this time it goes for north of $300. I email Rodney, asking him why he's selling the card again, since it was supposedly lost. He tells me to prove it was the same card, I think to myself, total bs, but since I got my refund, I'm really no worse for the wear. They both respond in all caps, leading me to believe they walk around yelling at each other, even when they're not mad. Anyway, long story short, I just got the dutch door treatment from the Yriarte brothers, it just took three years for the bottom door to hit me in the butt.

Ever had one of those experiences when all, or mostly all, of your assumptions about a situation are proven to be wrong? Well I humbly admit this is one of those. Over the weekend, after being MIA for over two weeks, the card shows up in my mail. Without belaboring the point, the lesson I learned here is that when things don't go as planned, it is possible that the other guy isn't trying to get over on you, even when there are hints that he is. The seller gets my sincere apology, plus the Paypal reversal of the refund.
  • glad you got your card, and sent the money back.

but, it doesn't change the fact that the seller is a douche.

I'm just now seeing this. This seller, Tom Yriarte did me dirty on an Ebay deal. He claimed the case arrived damaged (I pack better than Fort Knox), but would take the card minus $6 for recasing. The card was centered extremely nice for a lowly PSA 5 grade. My vote was, that HE cracked the case on purpose, because he wanted to sell the card raw and fished for a $6 discount off his price. I refunded him, but I blocked him as well. His story just didn't add up, because I have NEVER damaged a card that I shipped out. If any of you have ever received packages from me, you will know what I am talking about!
