Joao VI 960 Reis 1817B struck over a Spanish colonial 8R. These can be fun coins to try to determine where the host coin was minted.
Each of these UK pieces date from the 1790's (but conceivably could have been struck later)
and are about 36mm. There is a similar pattern in the background as yet unidentified.
Anyone Recognize it?
