What would you do?

So I went to ship some cards I sold on ebay and got to the PO. Paid for postage and I was starting to walk out and noticed the guy who helped me started throwing AND I MEAN throwing my packages through the window into a bin. I just made a WTF sound that he could hear and shook my head and walk out ( I had my 5 year old daughter with me). Good thing I put bubble wrap and cardboard around the graded card and put it in a bubble mailer. I know I won't be going back there as the other post office is 4 minutes farther from my house. What would you have done?

I would have made sure the items were packed to handle that. His toss is FAR from the worst abuse the package will likely take. That's why I'm so annoyed when I get raw cards sent to me in a toploader without anything to keep them from sliding out. Packages get banged about A LOT - fact of life.

I assume that every postal employee handles packages that way and protect them accordingly.

Throwing or tossing? At my PO I've seen them toss packages into those bins.

The bins are 3 or 4 feet away. I don't expect them to walk over each time, especially

when their is a long line. To you it's important, to them it's just another piece of mail.

    Don't let it bother you.
    Good for you.

Not much you can do. As bking said, that's just the first of many bumps and bruises that it will encounter on its trip. The next package tossed in that bin can weigh up to 75 lbs, everything that you ship should be packed to survive the treatment that it may sustain. I wouldn't waste the time or gas $$ to go somewhere else, it's next stop is a regional sorting facility where everything is done behind closed doors, you haven't seen anything yet my friend.

Funny I read this post today...

Bought some cards from a seller on beckett to knock out my 2009 Topps American Heritage Heroes Edition set and a couple of inserts. Cards were shipped in penny sleeves in a team bag, with some thicker cardboard sized filler cards on either size. Not taped down, no top loader, no card savers..... Three of the four had severe corner damage. So frustrating. Go from spending $8 to complete a couple of sets. To spending another $7.50 to reacquire the same cards from the a different seller. Its just so damn annoying? How much is a top loader and tape? That would have saved all this.

Oh well just another buyer I marked off my list as I won't be purchasing from him again. Getting my money back will be another matter.

You can not carry a concealed weapon into a federal building, at least here in FL. Now Texas...

    johnny1976,

The next time you go there, write "DO NOT THROW" on all of your packages. See if he says anything. image

It's a given that packages get thrown around by the PO (and every other carrier) pretty much through the entire shipping process. When are ebayers going to stop shipping high end cards (or any graded card) in tiny bubble mailers with no other protection. Drives me nuts!!!

Thats why I ship all of my cards with man-hole covers or ship anchors inside the package. It cuts down on the throwing.

That's a good tip. I have been using cinder blocks this whole time.

I agree with bking, it's what happens after you see it go into the bin that would make you cringe. As long as you package it as if a couple of monkeys were going to handle it, you'll have no problems.

I know it is frustrating though!!! image

To take this a wee bit off topic, go watch Anvil. The Story of Anvil.

I would not do very much as I expect my package to get tossed around. I pack assuming it is not going to be handled with care and in most cases it is going to be mishandled.
