On this date (July 10th), 100 years ago, Sherry Magee dropped home plate umpire, Bill Finneran, with one punch while arguing a called third strike. Later that day, a fan at the Baker Bowl would be ejected from the park, giving Philadelphia fans the notable distinction of having the first fan ousted from a Major League Baseball game in the sport's history ( - throughout the remainder of the 20th century, Philly fans would further build a reputation of being somewhat unruly, but I digress).
