Looking for these Ripkens

I know there are a lot of these cards out there somewhere (only 2000 made; one for each of Ripken's first 2000 games in the streak). There is probably no chance EVER to complete this set, but I am looking for them either graded or raw. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I couldn't tell you if/where these cards can be pulled from packs. I'll be watching this thread for any updates. Pretty interesting! Learn something every day...
<< <i>First of all, I had no idea these auto'd cards even existed. It even took me a while to find them on the Pop Report, but they are listed under "Minor League Cards", under the 1994 Classic Update Ripken Tribute. I own the 1994 Classic Update #CR1 in PSA 10, but had no clue about the others. Pretty cool cards! There are a couple on ebay right now. THIS ONE ends tomorrow, and THIS ONE has a $110 BIN/OBO.

Well, it looks like these are the boxes where they originated (see link below)
Its says one autographed card "AVAILABLE" per box, which sounds like you would have needed to send in perhaps a proof of purchase or something along those lines. It doesn't sound like they were inserted directly into packs, but I could be wrong.

BASEBALL CARDS doesn't list anything about these cards. I got mine from a shop owner sometime in early 1995 in trade for a '90 Leaf Thomas and Sosa.

If that is true, and there were over 2000 Arod autos inserted as well (as stated in the linked ad above)....with a stated production of only 12,000 boxes of this product, you'd be looking at a Ripken or Arod auto every 3 boxes on average? Something doesn't sound right with those odds. If anyone decides to take a shot at purchasing/ripping a few of these boxes, please let us know the results.

Of course, its been awhile, but that is my recollection..I know for sure they weren't 'mail in' redemptions

Keep in mind that card manufacturers didn't have to pay players nearly as high a fee as they do now to sit down and sign 1000-2000 cards. And especially Arod at the time was barely a rookie, so he probably signed his cards practically for free. I remember Jeter was doing signings in 1996 for $25 and everyone I knew thought it was an expensive ripoff.
<< <i>Unfortunately you probably won't be able to complete all 2,000 of those, I know a few that are in collections that probably won't ever get rid of them
I know of at least one
