Help With Old Season Ticket

New member here, sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong area. I recently acquired an old Green Bay Packers season ticket and have run into a brick wall trying to find out any information about it. The only answer I get from other collectors is "I've never seen one before". I would like to find out it's year of issue, stadium it was issued for and an estimated value; if anyone can help or direct me to anyone that might have some knowledge about these I would really appreciate the help.

a better scan would help greatly. another option would be to try to send this to some one at the Packer Hall of Fame. but a bigger scan for us Packer Backers might help.

Hi, hello, how are ya? image

My eyes are not the best. Is the ticket price $18.50? That would have to be a long long time ago.

Chris Nerat at Heritage Auctions is the guy I'd go to with any questions about vintage Packers memorabilia.

well its not quite true it was an 8 game season. what most here dont know is that up until 1995 the Packers played at least 3 regular season games or more in Milwaukee. my dad has been a holder of milwaukee season tickets since i have been on this earth, 1973. we always had 1 preseason game plus 3 regular season games, until they moved all the games to Green Bay. then we lost one of our regular season games. i can say that this is well before 1973. i would say it is probably before lombardi's time but not sure.

is there anything else printed on the ticket, ie the back? i will have to see if the packers really ever used that logo at all for the team. i know that they have had a few different team "logos" over the years. and by that i dont mean the G on the helmet. logos used on stationary and such.

i would think contacting the Packer Hall of Fame will get you the answer you are looking for, since the price is on there they can probably narrow the window down.

Welcome to the Jungle!! I had an old Braves ticket one time and call the stadium and they were extremely helpful in helping me learng more about it. You might consider calling the Packers' ticket department. Look forward to seeing you on the boards.

in 1946 a season ticket for Milwaukee or Green Bay for the highest price seat was $14.40. there is a ticket reservation blank on ebay that has this info.

the highest price for a single game was $4.80.

i would guess this is probably from the 50's to early 60's. But more likely the 50's.

  • Wow! Thanks for all the help! My own feeling is that it probably dates from the early 1950's; reason being that the team, I believe, played 4 games in Green Bay and 2 in Milwaukee (12 game schedule). Looking over the Packers all time records it doesn't appear that they ever played an 8 game schedule. The second thing that leads me to believe it is from this era is the seat number, pre-Lambeau Field I believe they played in City Stadium which had a seating capacity of about 5000. My feeling is the ticket would have had the game number punched at the gate with a hole punch, I imagine at the fourth game the ticket taker would just dispose of the ticket rather than punch it. Since this one was never used it may very well be the only one in existance (wishful thinking huh!)

To answer a couple of inquiries, the reverse of the ticket only has the same logo that appears on the front with no further detail. @ Brick - The ticket price is indeed $18.50.

Regarding contacting the Packers Hall of Fame, they only appear to have a phone number to arrange tours, I had been trying to locate an e-mail address for their curator (if they have one). I may have to call the General Information number and see if I can get anywhere.

Special thanks to Dboneesq for enlarging that scan!

well when they finally went to a balanced home and away schedule (for most of the 40's they played more road games then home games) on 51 and 52 did they play 4 in GB and 2 in MKE. 58 thru 60 were also 4 and 2 split. 61 thru 77 the last 14 game season. 78 and 80 was a 4 and 4 split. 82, the strike year would have been 4/4 but was 3/1 MKE/GB. every other 16 game season was 5 in GB and 3 in MKE.

its also possible that some of those games might have been a preseason game.

as for the HOF i would call that number and see if they couldnt point you in the right direction. since you will be calling WI they will be nice on the phone.

  • Thanks jradke4, I think you may have narrowed down the possible year of issue since Lambeau Field didn't open until 1957 (I think?); I'm inclined to believe it must be from the 1951 or 1952 season.
  • Not that I like bumping old threads but, I'm still unable to find any additional information on this item. I have e-mailed Heritage Sports with no reply along with e-mailing Thomas Murphy who is listed as the Packers team archivist. If anyone else has any other suggestions on researching this item I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.
  • Any ideas on this ticket?
It looks like in GB vs the Colts.
    From 1961?
