How would you rate your CoinFacts experience, to date??

So far I would give it a B-.
I can easily see how it could become a vital tool for dealers and collectors.
But, so far, there are alot of problems.
Having to log in multiple times to use the features is bad enough but today, the links have been simply not working most of the day, again not working tonight.

When I'm shipped a coin today that I need to return tomorrow (if I don't buy it), I need access to information NOW, not tomorrow........
<< <i>The pic resolution is far too large as when I click on them to view them they freeze my PC until they load. >>
They are very LARGE!
PCGS has taken on a very ambitious project with CoinFacts. It's worth the subscription price in my opinion. Hopefully any network issues can be addressed if folks are having those issues.
It's pretty cool to be able to see some of the information, but the pages load so slowly. Most of the time, it's just faster for me to go to the Price Guide or the Pop Report directly instead of going to CoinFacts because those load much faster for some reason.
Also, the auction history is pretty neat, but it needs some work. Searching for grade doesn't always work for me, especially for copper coins for some reason. Also, I noticed you can't search for + graded coins in the auction history yet and it's also not good when a + graded coin is sold it just appears in the auction history as a normal coin. For example, when a MS67+ monster sells at auction for a huge price, it shows up on CoinFacts looking like an MS67 that just sold for a bunch.
The few coin listings that have the expert narratives are great (the ones that are longer than a couple of sentences at least). But it seems like 90% of the coins I look at have no narrative written.
Having quick access to all of the coins that have been TrueViewed is pretty neat though, even though the pics are huge. It's cool to be able to see the huge pics sometimes, but there should be a way to see the medium sized TrueView as well. Right now it's either small or mega-huge!

Perhaps they could consider an "a la carte" subscription; like $.99 or $1.99 for a one day access; so when a hobbyist wanted to use it for a day they could. Or perhaps a 7-day rate?
I'd assume the comments here will be heard by DW & HRH and the concerns will be addressed. Great thread.
<< <i>The pic resolution is far too large as when I click on them to view them they freeze my PC until they load. >>
I saw it posted here before about large pictures, and it kind of annoys me. I am using a $400 computer bought three years ago and have no problems with the large images, I can even let a couple load in the background at once. I don't think images should be made smaller just because people have old computers. The big images have come in handy to really see a coin.
I do like Coin Facts, but think a $9.99 price point or below would bring in a lot of people, its current monthly rate is kind of high.
Edit: Are people with image problems using Internet Explorer? If so I would recommend Firefox or Chrome. Images on Internet Explorer are slower for me but still don't freeze my computer.
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
Not sure how that info is initially collected and distributed.
Once they get it right, CoinFacts will be a gold mine.
<< <i>I'm using it more and more but I agree the multiple logins are time consuming and annoying. And I wish there were moderate sized images then huge ones when you click on the smaller ones. >>
I agree. I also feel that navigation is slow and clunky but considerably improved.

When you first log in, where do you start?? Maybe you're onto something??
The pictures are slow and so are a few of the links. Some links go nowhere actually. Having auction records ALL IN ONE PLACE is great but I don't think this is worth much more than $10 per month when it gets up to speed.
Overall: C
Keep improving!

I was last on coinfacts Sunday night at a hotel drooling over auction records and looking at the coins I bought that day. Auction records were double what I paid so I was happy.
Today I am back at home. Went to PCGS.com, hit coinfacts, was already logged in and went to a coinfacts page. No problems.
Edit: Same computer used both locations.
Pattern info is minimal.
Logging in is VERY annoying. Half the time I can't even find where to log in.
The other half of the time, I might be logged in to the coin prices and pop report but NOT into CoinFacts.
Overall, I would give it a C+ but certainly it is improving. After all, "Rome was not built in a day."
A suggestion; I will treat a travelling PCGS contracted photographer to breakfast, lunch, dinner and one overnight hotel stay to take photographs of my patterns and other slabbed coins at MY location rather than shipping them all to PCGS or bringing them all down to PCGS at a trade show.
Possibly PCGS might offer an aspiring photographer an internship to take some nice pictures and travel at a modest weekly stipend during the summer which covers all travel expenses by automobile?
I like the survival #s the best............
What I like about it:
Multiple high resolution images of the same issue, in various conditions.
What I do not like about it:
Images are too large when you click on the coin
There are too many gold issues with too few images, a problem which should be corrected over time
Some of the image quality and style is subpar

IMO, slow response time can and often is related to location. I'm on the West Coast.
DLRC on the East Coast, is molasses slow. The IKE Group on the East Coast, is even slower.
Logins for PCGSCoinFacts used to be an issue for me but not any more. Just now I brought up the site and did not have to login.
Pictures can be a probelm but I do enjoy the large images which always open in a separate window for me and it does not matter how many I click (within reason) my system response does not seem to be hindered.
As a side note, anybody that wants to add something to PCGS Coin Facts need only contact Ron Guth ( rguth@collectors.com ). He bends over backwards to insure that the site has the information that it needs but can in no way do it all by himself. I got information regarding Eisenhower Dollars added quite easily to the IKE Dollar page.
If you want photo's of Varieties, they'll have to be submitted to PCGS for photographing as the standard seems to be TrueView LARGE Images. Medium Images would work just as well and the reality of the situation is that if you know how to negotiate the PCGS Image site, Large Images can usually be found for any trueview photographed coin. ( www.pcgs.com/Trueview/"large|medium"/certnumber.jpg try: http://www.pcgs.com/Trueview/Large/14116111.jpg OR http://www.pcgs.com/Trueview/Medium/14116111.jpg OR http://www.pcgs.com/Trueview/14116111.jpg )
Again, contact Ron Guth. It's his baby and I'm positive the he and PCGS want to see it mature into a useful tool that all subscribers are proud to use.
The name is LEE!
Just hope he's getting the support he deserves for a project of this magnitude.
It'd be great if it came with the full PCGS price guide with all single number grades, ie AU55, 58, MS60, 61, etc. rather than asking you to sign up for the full price guide.
I've only looked at it on a trial basis, mostly I like it.
I expect a few more glitchy spells as PCGS works to implement other changes to their web identity, namely this forum at some point. I seem to have been seeing some hesitation with these boards in the past few days, myself.
That CoinFacts project has to be a woolly booger.
eh, Rome wasn't built in a day.
Go to coin facts, then territorials, then Moffat, then 1853 $20, then auction history.
Are you able to access it?? I've been unable to for 3 days and on 3 different computers/locations.
Thanks! I'm trrying to figure out if the problem is on my end or what.

Under Cal gold? I got the same auction error. I got to all of it without logging in.......

Must be a bad link, it works when searching though auction history:

Thanks - that might be the problem.
