A pop 1 crossover!

I took a risk and bought a bccg 10 1977 topps mexican Dan Fouts on ebay and sent it to BVG for a hopeful crossover. Well it crossed and now its the only mint copy graded by either psa or bvg(its also the only mint graded topps mexican by bvg). Unfortunentely they mislabeled the holder so its en route again to bvg to get it fixed. Here were some pics of the card before it was sent out:

I don't mean to belittle your card. Congratulations, but Beckett has absolutely NO CLUE how to grade those cards. Do you notice the gum stain visible on the front? It starts at his feet, up through his medsection and runs at an angle to the left up to the yellow in the nameplate ending just under the "A" and "G" in CHARGERS... Not at all uncommon with the issue as most were in two card packs so one card got a gum stain and the other a wax stain, hence the difficulty in finding them in high grade.

  • Move along Scott.... You act like you aren't trying to stir something up... But well as you can tell...

    Sean:

Not trying to start a thing. Pointing out an obvious fact and hoping that BGS doesn't catch it when they reholder it and if they do, that they make up the difference for their error. Perhaps you could visit the website I built that is dedicated to the issue and tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. When you get a clue, let me know!
  • I know your mother failed to teach you the "if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all" concept, but you seem smart enough to teach yourself.

Better than having a lot of nothing to say, I guess... You really don't get it, do you?

Actually, this is why we have these boards....to learn from each other. I have to say, Scott was not being confrontational at all and was giving a little education to the OP and anyone else who is interested in this set. It's good information. Congrats to the OP for his grade...but if you resell, you may have an unhappy buyer.

Agreed on all points. Scott didn't do anything wrong, and provided pertinent information. There's also nothing wrong with Sean congratulating OP for the successful crossover, but I'm confused as to why he objected to Scott's comments and tried to moderate the thread, especially since it was not in need of moderation before he posted in it.

Scott is obviously channeling his inner hall monitor, which is offensive to young Sean. Instead of gradually easing his way into the community, he (Sean) has chosen to come in and assume the role of den mother to all the poor posters that are abused and harassed by the old guard.

edit: I've got no skin in this game, and very limited knowledge of the card/set in question. It's more than apparent, however, that Scott knows exactly what he's talking about. The OP has a very nice looking card, but given the facts regarding Topps Mexican, it's pretty obvious that his card is mis-graded (not to mention the misidentification) and stands a chance of taking a hit after BVG gets it back in their hands. Having said that, resellling it in the existing slab would have created a potential problem for him and the guy he sold it to. The OP is doing the right thing by having it reholdered with the correct identification and going from there.
