Is this signed Seaver card worth grading?
Belongs to a friend who doesn't know much about cards...
I know it's a bad picture, but there's no scanner available, and the corners should be relatively good. It's mainly just the centering that will knock it down, plus whatever tiny little flaws they find (which they always seem to find).
Assuming it grades 7 or 8 on the current red flip special, about how much would it be worth?

<< <i>Not worth the grading fees. If you really want to get it slabbed, wait for a $10 blue flip special. >>
Wait, hold on, why would I want a blue flip over a red flip? Are you saying it's only a 7 and therefore won't hold much value, and a blue flip would be better than a grade of AUTH on a red flip? Otherwise I'd prefer a red flip in 99% of cases.

The overall grade of the card is not as important and making sure it is authentic!

Either way they have to get the signature PSA/DNA certified before they'll slab it. Only difference is with a blue flip, they stop right there. Any grade on a blue flip is for the autograph only. With a red flip, they give the combined card/autograph an overall grade, or a grade of AUTH if the submitter doesn't want a number grade or if the card has been altered/trimmed.
I guess in a few unique situations, a buyer would rather have a blue flip than a red flip with a low grade, or a red flip with a grade of A, since there's a chance this could mean the card has been trimmed. But like I said, 99% of the time, I'd rather have a red flip with a number grade.
So with the $10 grading fee and return fedex shipping, it would probably cost around $21-22 to get this thing in a slab... probably worth it I guess. I wish I had more signed cards to send on the same submission. Anybody wanna piggyback? We have exactly one week to get it postmarked by the end of the month.
