1970-S Lincoln's Small or large date help please

Are these both large dates or small.......or one of each?
As many times I look at them I still get them confused!

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

Left side has a lot of glare in the pic but I thinks it's also large.
The small dates have a weak BERTY of LIBERTY, most large dates are stronger
Small dates have a point on the inside curl of 9 (the glare hides it on the left) (BEST WAY TO TELL)
Small dates have an egg shaped ball on the 9
The date is more level on the small dates but not perfectly level and this is hard to use to tell
Large dates have a bump on the top of the 0 of the date
Large dates have a blunt end on the inside curl of 9
Large dates have a rounder ball on the 9
Large dates have a crease in the corner of the 7
both of those look like low 7's (thus large date) to me.
of course I'm still learning, myself.

You're not alone. I believe the person who discovered these varieties had way too much time on his hands (then again, I suppose you can say that about most people who discover tiny die varieties).
I think the Small Date/Large Date varieties are like those "magic picture" posters you have to squint at a certain way- I never could see those, either.
Besides the weak LIBERTY which gets weaker from left to right, you can also check the loop of the 9. On the small date, the loop of the 9 points to the right but on the large date the loop points more toward the mintmark. Compare the pic below to the ones you have. Hope this helps and good hunting.

On the pic from toys4geo you can clearly see the point on the inside curl and how the ball of the 9 is egg shaped. (small date)
That point is the best way to tell on these, the large dates are not pointed like that. Also if you look at the 0 in that photo it has no bump on the top and compare it to the original coins in the thread you can see the bump on the top of the 0. (large dates)

Yes! AJ is correct!

...this should help ya'
They are both large date.
The easy way to tell is the where the inner loop of the 9 points. Like someone already posted and showed a pic.
Aren't varieties neat!
After looking at the two again. I think the one one the left is the small date.
...all you need to do stef is read the link i posted.

I look forward to your sm date giveaway thread!

That's how I learned it looking through many rolls as a kid: If you extended the horizontal bar in the '7' digit toward the zero, if that imaginary line cut into the zero, it's a large date. If it rested on top of the zero, it's a small date.
