how 'bout a mint "scratch and dent sale?"

...this would be a good way to sell mint returns for a discount! that would give collectors the chance to buy
their product at a reduction in cost. they could pick out the spot free or smear free or ding free or grease free
chip free etc. coin and release the rest into circulation. whatta ya think?

...yeah they do in a lot of cases. but they should not.
Most all of their coins would qualify for that sale.

Yes They just send them out to another customer that's less picky or less sophisticated.

Actually with the largest customer base it's good business to send them back out. Not everybody knows or even cares what perfect can be and just wants a set to keep the series going.
Remember the excitement of getting that set in from the mint and filling all the holes in those blue folders with them. Don't even remember using gloves just pushing them in. Course I always made sure that there wasn't any jam on my fingers.

LOL i agree!
...the coins should be sent back, true, when the collector is not happy. i don't expect 70's in my sets but geez,
i don't expect big ol' black spots or stains either. they really need to pay more attention to quality control instead
of hiking prices in a blink of an eye and no effort into 'scanning' the product before shipping.

<< <i>Then you'd have people all cheesed off because their scratch and dent purchases don't look like 69s. >>
...of course the mint's argument would be they cost less because they are NOT perfect or even near so.
