Question about getting a set graded

Just wanted to know 2 things about getting an entire set graded. Hopefully somebody here has done this before. If I call PSA might they give a discounted rate for 150-175 cards? And 2, if I sent in the set would the same person grade all cards and might grades suffer after looking at 30 or more cards? Thanks for opinions and or experiences.

I dont have an answer to your question but I wouldn't do it. I would not want to risk the disapointment of getting all bad grades. What is the set you plan on grading?

  • Good topic. I have thought about doing this myself for a few 132 card sets. Based on my limited experience subbing, I think it's a good idea. I have always felt I received better grades when I subbed 50 to 60 different cards from the same set as opposed to star cards from a bunch of different sets. I don't think you would receive much of a discount on the price, however. Dave makes a good point as well. If you have mis-judged your cards you could be very disappointed. - Kevin

I have subbed 134 in one lot of my Wrestling All Stars cards. I don't think there is any evidence either way. The more you sub the more apt you are in my mind to get a few lower grades becuase lets face it is easy to miss a few very minor issues.

With the current specials I highly doubt any discount would come at all for 175.

If you want the set graded I would just send them in and hope for the best. I would also send in duplicates if you have any on any card you are not sure of. It will cost more but you increase the odds of getting the results you want.

I've done it, for 88,55, and 44 card non sport sets and baseball team sets.

    Got the grades I expected.

In your case 175 cards, I'd prolly send in 40 at a time and see how it goes.

I was not looking for high grades, I did get a few though. I simply wanted accurate ones.

    Good for you.

Well with the special they have right now at 5.00 a card it would cost you about 800.00. What condition is the set? Ex-Mt to Nm-Mt? If so I would think it might not be a bad idea to have them all graded for 800.00
I bet it would increase the final sale about a grand or more if its a decent set.
