Did anyone see tonight's episode? I guess it was an hour long show with behind the scenes type of stuff. Well anyway both of them were showing some of the up's and down's that they go through when they buy contents of storage units. Towards the end of the show the little guy shows off a big chunk of gold that he found saying it was worth 16 grand, and the big dude found an 80 pound brick of silver worth 30 grand. Must be nice.

You donate the junk to charity because one "find" pays for the time and effort worth doing it all. You can then write the donation off on your taxes too. Problem solved.
<< <i>The show is called Storage Wars and I really like watching. If I had to deal with Dave on a regular basis, he would likely have some kind of traffic accident...what a pain. It is a nice alter ego type of modern day treasure hunting. Gotta admit that I have considered doing that but the only problem is what do you do with all the junk cause you would need a little junk store like all those people have and that ain't happenin' for me. >>
Actually two different shows. Same premise.

Most of these reality shows are scripted. The only believable reality show is Cops.

Ya gotta remember this is television. If you watch "American Pickers" would you pay some of the prices those 2 guys pay? And I can't believe the prices they say they sell the stuff for either.
Pawn Stars is another one. They hardly ever show any selling, just the buying/haggling.
Both the above shows seem to have a never ending gamut of "experts" willing to examine purchases and authenticate everything. It's all entertaining and especially when they come up with coins. But I don't believe most of it.

and then there is dancing with the 's
It and the Pawn Store show don't strike me as real, but I caught a couple episodes of Storage Wars the other day and it felt mostly real, if heavily edited. I do love the "honest" accounting that they use at the end, with no accounting for time, labor, storefront overhead, taxes, licenses, utilities, etc. Reminds me of the stone soup folktale.
