Who here has a 1921-S Morgan TONED?

Been looking, maybe not for years, but for a while with no luck for this coin myself.

I even have some folks on the lookout but nothing yet.

I have nice examples of the 21-P & 21-D but the S has eluded me.

There is a very nice example for sale now but it is an MS 66 which is too rich for my blood. I am looking for a nice MS 65.

I looked for years to find a 21-s with toning. I sold Sunnywood the 21-s in his collection when I broke my collection up.

I've seen many original toned dollars of this date, but they are usually the typical MS62-ish coin with scuffy marks on the cheek, which makes you wonder if they're really AU58; and the toning is not usually pretty.

Yes, I have seen that one.
But there are so very few available at a nice grade and semi- reasonably priced

There is a PCGS MS66 in the Heritage archives with moderately colorful toning, but 95% of the MS65 to 67 coins are blast white. I take it that dollars of this date did not spend a lot of time sitting around in canvas bags?

I have a 1921 Morgan, NGC certified with a cresent tone on the obverse, from 1 o'clock to 5:30.

Didn't realize these were hard to find, although I did buy this because of the toning. Broke this out of a PCGS holder for my Dansco.

That's not too bad looking. Is that an Au, rubbed piece or is that just the image?

I wouldn't go AU on this coin, as far as luster goes I'd have to pull and have a look see. I gave it a XF40.

In the 1950s, my mom bought a green leather wallet. After she quit using the wallet, she stored coins in it. The 1921S Morgan that was in that wallet for a couple decades now has some green toning.

I would guess that the planchets were washed with an acidic solution that make toning unlikely. With the scarcity, I'd bet that the toning docs have been trying for years to this date/mintmark by the truck load, but for the most part have been failing.

Who here has a 1921-S Morgan TONED?
