Hard luck 7's? Any of these 1975 mini's worth cracking and resubbing?

  • The Schmidt, the Jackson, the McCovey, and the Perez all appear obviously undergraded to me. Maybe the Yount too, depending on what that white spot in the bleachers is.
    The others look to be in the proper holder.

    edited to add: Whether or not it makes sense financially to crack those cards and try for an 8..... that might be another story.

    IMO, they all appear to be graded correctly.

    Schmidt l/r centering is borderline 7/8 - severe tilt makes it a 7;

    Yount, McCovey, Rose, and Perez t/b 7 centering;

    Jackson - moderate snow in photo automatic 7 or 9 PD;

    Brett upper right corner bend; and

    Ryan - all four corners showing slight touches of white (if 2 out of 4 slight touches of white and the other 2 sharp, then good chance at 8).

    I think the Yount might be worth a resub. The T/B centering might keep it out of an 8 holder but I have seen worse come back an 8.
  • I just looked more closely at the Jackson and the PD is worse than I first noticed. 7 is the correct grade for that card.

    My final answer is Schmidt, McCovey, and Perez deserved better- and Yount deserved better IF that white spot is not a bubble.

    Thanks guys - am getting ready to sell the set that these are part of. There are a few 8's too, and none seem much different than these. C'est la vie after the great mini crackdown I guess.

    edit: the white spot on yount must have been a speck on the scanner...

    The touch on the right top corner on the Yount probably kept it out of an 8 holder..centering is also a bit low T/B, but I can see this card getting a half bump grade to 7.5

    I would say...Yount worth 1 crackout. Others are too close to call or not worth the sub money.

    The Yount, Jackson, and Perez could possibly get a bump ... (depending on which grader you get), but the others appear to be in the right holders.

    I pulled this from one of the BBCE group rips a couple of years ago. The T/B centering looks similar to your Yount. The top right corner might keep it out of an 8. I would have to think that it could get at least a .5 grade bump and probably worth spending the $5 to try and get the bump.
