    Some personalities compel a reaction.

    Howard Cosell.

    Judge Judy.

    Nancy Grace.

You might like 'em or hate 'em, but there is no fence sitting.

If you are interested in a coin, then spend some money for a phone call a

and ask the good people at Legend about the coin. They will tell you all

about the coin, warts and all.

It's a thread regarding Legend, not written by Legend.

considering the coins and clientele, I do see something in the OP question:

would understatement or simply stated go over better?

With the people they want to attract as customers? Who knows? I'd be surprised to hear they've never considered it.

Or with the people who post here? Of course not- they'd still get complaints.

<< <i>"There are NO auction records for any other MS66+s. A NON CAC MS67RD sold for $16,100.00 in 4/2010 Heritage." >>

Fixed, Legend badly needs an editor. >>

Legend subscribes to a service that reports population, bids and auction records for both PCGS and NGC coins. If it's not reported on the service, then it's like a tree that fell in the forest when no one is around. I think that if you expect a dealer to go research the latest auction catalogs before they list a coin, it just isn't gonna happen. >>

No, I wouldn't expect that, but when they don't need to research an auction result where they were the buyer... come on. >>

How do you know they were the buyer direct from auction?

    Their description of coins ??

It makes me want to see the coin in hand if I am interested in purchasing.
I manage money. I earn money. I save money .
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.

Descriptions are fine and photos good.

YOU need to do your own "due diligence" no matter who the seller is.

You run the risk of the hoards of Legend lemmings now castigating you, ad nauseum, for even considering...much less writing, any criticism of the (koff) almightly Legend (in the own minds).

<< <i>If you ever dealt with Legend you will know that when Laura loves a coin-it has no equals. >>

I think this is closer to what the thread was intended to address.

Legend is not criticized for its coins -- they are nice coins. As I understood it, the thread questions the value of the descriptions. I think there is some truth to that. The descriptions could be improved by telling us WHY the coins are so wonderful compared to others. There are a number of featured PCGS dealers that use more substantive descriptions. The mark of a really good description is allowing the reader a sense of the comparative quality without there even being a picture.

Laura and Legend KNOW their customers.I have dealt with them for many years, and if i ask about a coin, many times i have been told that its great, but not for me,as i am VERY PICKY.Legend is a class act,and i think Laura, and George truly care for what their customers needs are.JMHOimage

image When you use too many superlatives there is a dilution effect.

I remember being in the army when soldiers used an expletive in every sentence.

The result was that after awhile you just ignored it.

The nice description you bought the coin on won't be there to help you when it comes time to sell a coin. At that point it's just you and the coin.
    I never met a coin description I didn't like.

    you have the description
    you have the photos
    you have the telephone
you have chance to see it first before paying

Check the relative traffic and bid counts on heritage vs. Goldberg. Legend is right to not include them. (Note: slightly kidding, but really why do people consign to a FAR lesser auction house?)

This is why we stopped using expletives in our coin descriptions.
