Check out the registry news and see the new Morgan PL and DMPL point system.
I will do some figuring to see how it will effect me.

And the way it's being presented, it definitely looks like it's a different set:
"Weighting preview for the Morgan Dollars Prooflike Basic Set, Circulation Strikes (1878-1921)"
It's interesting that they've decided to make it a separate set. It's fine with me either way, but it's kinda strange given that these bonuses are not included in:
Morgan Dollars Basic Set, Circulation Strikes (1878-1921)
Morgan Dollars with Varieties, Circulation Strikes (1878-1921)
Are these sets for people that hate PL/DMPL? I can't imagine there's a Morgan dollar fanatic around that doesn't like a PL/DMPL coin...

I have to be honest..
I am losing interest in the whole thing.
I was happy before they decided to change the rules in mid stream.
I have not bought a coin in over 1 month,or ever looked at any.
I do plan on selling about 20 extras as soon as they finish the "new rules"

I think it would be wrong to have the PL's and DMPL's in a seperate set. That is not what was done with other sets regarding CAM's and DCAM's. It is impossible to have a complete DMPL set of every Regular issue. I will be very disappointed if they are put in a seperate set. PLUS the weighting seems a little off, for example a 1900 S has only 9 dmpls graded by pcgs but has a lower dmpl rating than a 1902 O which has 56, while the 1903 O has 57 and a lower weight than a 1902 O.

Macqui: Actually, the "DWG Set" is pretty darn close to a complete set of PL/DMPL. It's really, REALLY impressive. Without weighting, it's currently listed just below my set. But, it's WAY better than my set!
BRdude: Yes, PL and DMPL are absolutely circulation strikes, mainly due to early die states and/or early die polishing. That's why there are alot of 1889-CC's with PL/DMPL relative to the total population of MS.
Guys, the more I think about it, the more I am NOT in favor of having separate sets. The PL/DMPL bonuses should be included in the two basic/variety sets. They should also be included in all the other CC, early S-mint, mintmarket, et al sets.

Guess, its time to ask the horse what breed he is.
I agree with you about that set being a fantastic set, that is what I want to have when I grow up, My set is right behind yours on the NGC registry and is GC's DMPL Set on PCGS. DWG's set is mostly PL/DMPL but still many coins are not because it is not easy to find some of these dates and some literally do not exist in DMPL. It seems to me that if the IKE's can have proofs and CAM proof and Deep Cam Proof all together then the circulation strike Morgans should include PL/DMPL designations. To quote from DWG "DMPL's are the highest state of preservation that exists for a Morgan dollar".
How hard is it for one of us to ask David Hall?
