cheiftain, If you have a registry set, you can use the what if function to look up some of these non-listed varieties. Just looked, and PCGS guide has it a 525. I believe 400 would be a good buy, and 500 or more would be full retail. I personally wouldn't pay full retail unless it is an exceptional coin. I noticed last night that David Lawrence has
one listed in 64rb for 325. Hope this helps. Shag

Well, let me pour some salt. I think BOTH varieties are a tad overrated and valued vs their scarcity. JMHO.

  • $375-$425 would be full retail IMO

I haven't seen many of these come to market in the last year. A few years ago they seemed plentiful. Here are the pops. FS-511 46 in 64rd and 34 higher. FS-512 12 in 64rd and 9 higher. The demand was created early on for the 511 by it's inclusion in the major varieties catagories. That drove the price up disproportionaly to the 512. (1300 vs. 525) In
addition, I would add that the 511 is much more desirable because of the curl of the S rising above the D. Rarity is sometimes trumped by desirability and demand. JMHO Shag

RWB, The reason that I only have 890 posts since 2005, is that I only post when I have some experience on the subject and can add something positive to the thread.
Is reaching 10,000 posts so important that you feel the need to throw in a negative comment like that? Just wondering. Shag
  • Shag..........Your reply was much more dignified than others and reflected the true purpose of this forum. I do not have a registry set in progress. Had to wipe the drool off the keyboard after viewing yours. Awesome set ! THX for the insight. Collector since '56 and have seen (not listed) 43-D DDR and 12-D DDR with spreads as wide as a '55 ! This is an ongoing field of interest.....There are many more not listed that DO exist.
