Grand-Stand Base Ball Game - 1912

There's a limited popularity for my games - but here goes. One thing I promise - I will always try to embellish the item with information that I hope you'll find more interesting.
Grand-Stand Base Ball Game - 1912
One never knows when the purchase of a game – which is more like premium – will lead to a piece of American history.
The French Lick Springs Hotel opened in 1845 and later in the 1900s hosted notables like Abbott and Costello, Bing Crosby, Al Capone…

Also the Chicago Cubs spring trained there before WWI around 1908 and after WWII - 1945.
Here's a cool pic of the manager for the Cubs in '45 from French Lick - Charlie Grimm - who played 20 yrs in the majors.

A later owner – Thomas Taggart – was the mayor of Indianapolis – and Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, which announced FDR as their candidate – and thus, the unofficial headquarters at the hotel.
The hotel is still open today.
The hotel company produced Pluto Water, which was a natural laxative and was popular around the US. Their tagline: “when nature won’t, PLUTO will.”

Here's a sports related ad for Pluto Water - Chick Evans was the first amateur to win the US Open in 1916.

You can pick up the bottles sans the labels on ebay – the bottom of the bottle is the cool part which has an embossed devil on it.

And now to the game – it’s the first I’ve seen on ebay and have only seen it in Mark Cooper’s tome.
The game spinner is not listed in the standard catalog of baseball collectibles. The condition is fair. Usually right after I pick up a fair one – a better one shows up on ebay right away.

There's a "price" of 25 cents but I have no idea how it was distributed. I wonder if it's a mis-print and they just didn't want to correct it?
The way the game worked was copied in the game Big League Base Ball at Home, Cracker Jack -- J.B. Carroll Co, 1920s?

That has got to be the only game which has a devil AND baseball in the same game. What an awesome piece!
Great stuff Mike, thanks for taking the time to share.
