Ugliest Standard Topps Mantle Card

'57

It's stupid in a variety of ways.

Giant booze nose and looks like he's on the tail end of a bender. Wait, maybe that makes it awesome.
  • 67 Topps. He looks sick in that picture.
  • I personally think the '57 Mantle is great. I'll go with the '67 as well.

Probably the '67. The flash was probably strong and he looked pale and older and was not an action shot. I love the '57 card too and there is a "ghost" behind Mickey in the image!

image And my vote goes to the ..... 1967 card. Just plain ugly betty.

I agree, 67. Personally, I've never liked the 61 either.

  • '67, no question. Runner up: '58.

My favorites are '56 and '66.

    67 then 58 second ugliest.

Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.

I love the '67 card. That's the Mick!! I'm sure he WAS just off a 3 day bender, but he probably still went 2 for 4 that day and then saddled up again that night. Awesome.

Friggin Topps they make one of the best sets of all time - 1967 - but several of the star cards are mediocre.......Mantle, Mays, Clemente.........idiots make a Koufax LL card but not a regular card. Think about how a Koufax 67 high number would've been off the chain.........image

Well, he WAS a League Leader in 66, but announced he was retiring right after the 66 series in plenty of time for Topps to exlcude him from the 67 set.

But yeah, the pics are pretty underwhelming by and large.

I would agree with the '67 not being one of Mantles best looking cards.

  • hmmm...I've always kinda liked the '67. Different strokes right? I've gotta go with the '69 Mantle. Dull gray background, Mick looks tired as ___ with droppy eyes and sagging shoulders...doesn't look like he's having fun anymore. I hate to pick on that card cuz I have a beautifully centered PSA 6!!
