Tim, that Ebay listing description notwithstanding, they actually do know private/territorial gold and have handled one or more Brasher Doubloons.

They obviously pasted the wrong stock text in the auction description.

Reading the listing, it appears to me that the
paragraph below the heading is simply the
wrong pararaph description for that Territorial
    coin.

The wording and description you're referring
to belongs with another coin - a Pattern, obviously.

I just looked through their Ebay listings and wow! They sure have a lot of nice (and expensive) material listed.

What would a fair offer for this piece be?image -Dan
  • What might the benefit be that this seller sees in delivering via FedEx overnight?

Not sure what a fair offer would be - check HA auction archives or Coinfacts.

The beaded border Bechtlers bring alot of money.

I don't know anyone personally that specializes in Bechtler, but I'm sure they're out there. image

Just checked Coinfacts - last AU55 at auction, Stacks Jan. 08, $74,750.

I'm unable to access Stack's archive right now, so don't know if it's the same coin.

They seem to bring consistently high prices.
