Excited About this Topps Vault Item !

I know there was a thread on Topps Vault acquistions a couple weeks ago, but I though this one was so cool that it deserved its own thread...The 1996 Topps Chrome set had a very neat card of Cal Ripken Jr. that showed various images of that historic night back in September 1995 when he passed Lou Gehrig....Here are the Match Print Photos for each of the images that made up that card:
First the issued Topps Chrome card itself:

Then the Match Print Photos used to make the card:

Enjoy!

Superb proofs - the match print is the best quality proof in the production of the card.
Thanx for sharing.
I would pay just to see your collection. Maybe you could do "A Year of Cal Ripken" thread, like that Gary Carter thread! That would be a ton of work... I don't know how 'thekid8' does it.
Thanks

<< <i>Very cool pickup, but i have to ask? Does the 3121 picture look like it matches? The one on the card looks like it was taken at a greater angle than the original picture. Plus the light that appears to be on in the window between the 1 and 3 appears to be turned off. Unless it was a good photshop job.

Both 2131 pictures were just angled slightly, they use the match prints to create the final pics. Unbelievable set...
But, from what I've read - just for clarity - the matchprint proof is a "trade name" - like DuPont Cromalin and DuPont Waterproof - the matchprint is a type of "laminate proof" - it's one of the more expensive but more accurate types of "Prepress" proofs - these full-color proofs are made from the negatives used to make the printing plates.
Each separation is transferred to a separate sheet and the layers are fused or "laminated" together to give an extremely accurate representation of the final printed piece.
Reggie matchprint and types of proofs.
