Is there any info on how many 63 to 72 trimes avoided being melted?

Does anyone have info on how many trimes were melted in 1873? Looking at the numbers minted between 1863 and 1872 they are already very low mintages then add in most of them were melted in 1873, how many do you think are surviving today?

There are Mint documents listing coins melted for recoinage, often by denomination. I don't remember the entry and journal numbers at the moment.

Many of the 19th century mint reports have summaries of recoinage.

PS: Nothing lists the coins melted by date/mint

As far as I could figure out, many of these coins were sold in sets, and those that did not sell in the set were set aside and possibly melted.
I will need to see where I read that.

After 1862 trimes were struck for two purposes:

    1) Proof sets

    2) Business strikes. These were kept on hand to pay off odd sums for gold deposits. Records
were kept of the various silver and gold denominations melted from 1850 on. These are in the
    Archives.
