So my buddy brings me 10 ASE's from his pocket and they are 1995

So, they are pocket coins, some ticks in the field, should I pay him anymore than melt for them. 1995 is the key right, but they aren't really mint original mark free coins now?

The 1995-W proof ASEs are the key ASEs. The regular bullion ASEs are generic. I would pay less for abused ASEs than pristine pieces.

96 is the "key," if you want to call it that. 95 in an ms70 becomes a key. $1.50 over melt/spot is fair for the both of you.

  • Oh yeah, 96, I thought 95's carried a premium too? Where are the grey sheets when u need them?

check the PCGS price guide for a comparison.

If they have been mishandled (marks, scuffs, etc), I wouldn't pay more than melt for them.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

    I agree.

  • I paid 5% back of melt for them, we both agreed that with the scuffs they are just silver and I needed a little room if I wanted to sell them. He is bringing me 200 more and 40 1 gram bars(they are swiss, not pamp or creditte)
