Gold Metal detector suggestions?

Hi, I lost my 18k gold ring during hunting season this fall and was wondering if anyone has suggestions for a metal detector and/or settings targeting 18k gold ring?

The ring was my grandfathers and I lost it in the woods on my own land (Syracuse, NY) so it shouldn't be down to far in the mud if I lost it then stepped on it.

Any suggestions?

    Just about any metal detector will find gold , it need not be an expensive one. The best way to tune the discrimination in for gold is to take along another piece of gold. Use that piece of gold to ensure your detector is seeing and responding to gold.After that it's patience and keep in mind a lost item is rarely where you think you lost it.Be ready to spend some time and you'll find what's there to be found.
