Even if it comes back in a Genuine holder I'd say you still did VERY well.

    Nice pickup Sir!

Congrats! I was hoping even if Ambro was tearing me a new one. We have seen more disappointments on these types of coins. In fact, I recall only one other person on these forums who ever picked up an unc lincoln as a 1911 MPL.

    BTW....You Suck!!

Thanks you guys! I appreciate it. I had little doubt that it was a matte when bidding. My main concern was the cropped photo and what the rims looked like and obviously the overall condition. As Brian Wagner said it looks like knife edge which once I got it in hand is exactly what it is.

Well now lets see if it will grade. image

oh and RLD, don't call me sir... hehe j/k I'm only 30 for a few more weeks. So I guess this is an early Birthday present image

If it weren't for the spot I would have graded it atleast a 65.

    << <i>If it weren't for the spot I would have graded it atleast a 65. >>

First off, congratulations on the find and grade! image

I agree with you, take away that spot, and a 65 grade could be argued!

Now the difficult thing to say, and please don't take this the wrong way as it is only one dude's opinion based on a photo, but I don't think the spot is why the coin graded 62. Rather it appears to me to be a silently net graded coin based on the the color/surfaces, the originality thereof, and an apparent lack of luster. I would look to someone who collects these coins more than I, but in my experience with large cents, that spot would not hurt the coin that much and the 62 grade seems overly harsh in what appears to be a practically mark-feek coin.

Mr. Wagner or Mr. Snow (or anyone for that matter), What do you think about the coin, it's grade, the spot, and related issues?

You might be right but that spot is sure in a prime focal area. It almost hits you like an arrow when your looking at it, it is the first thing I would look at if I was a grader. I think the surfaces are pristine and maybe that is why they didn't gennie it? I could be wrong, I have been many times before image

I am thinking about sending it to NCS and maybe they can conserve it. Does anyone have any thoughts on if they could even get rid of the spot without ruining this coin. Or should I just let it be?

Maybe I'm interpreting what you're saying wrong but there are plenty of proofs in PCGS and NGC plastic with hairlines.
