Hint: He won his last four starts and had another win in relief for a five game winning streak to end his career.

    Nope

Since you seem to be the only playing, I'll give some more hints:

This pitcher won less than 100 games lifetime, and was a two time all star

Turn on Richie Ashburn voice: "How 'bout that Don Wilson?"

    Jamie Moyer?

Edit, I can't read obviously, less than 100 wins...

Nope, let's see what else I can give ya.

You are off by a generation or two
Pitched his first MLB game at the age of 19
Piched his last MLB game at the age of 38

Why do superheros only hang out in New York or L.A.? Why not Bangor??

    Babe Ruth.

I would say that 9/28/74 Wilson pitched a shutout with no strikeouts. I would guess that was his last game.

That was Wilson's last game - amazing. Let me check the box score; I may have erred.

Well, if we can verify the Don Wilson Box score, I will eat humble pie and send prizes to the Babe Ruth and Don Wilson guys. Can anyone help please?

  • I believe Wilson only played in the NL his entire career, as well as one team - not matching your criteria set forth image

No box score, but B-R shows it in the game logs.

I stand humbley corrected. Would hhmag70 and georgebailey2 please send to me shippingaddresses and I'll get stuff out. Wow! Who woulda thought Wilson (who once struck out 18 in a game) would strike out zero in 9 innings.

    Nice job guys!

True, but my original question only dealt with the final game and the following clues were misleading. My bad. image

  • Got a sealed set of Venorlandus World of Sport cards in the mail today from Wondo, thank you for the prizeimage
  • georgebailey2georgebailey2 Posts: 1,083 ✭✭✭
I received the same today. Thanks Wondo.

    On a different note:

Very unsatisfying ending to the "NOT GOOD" thread. It had a lot of drama. Unfortunately, an evasive OP and two hijackings (the turtle stuff and then the poofing material) gave us no closure.

It will be interesting to see when Capital Sports re-lists the Sawchuk Bee Hive assuming he did not give the underbidder a 2nd chance offer.

Thanks again Wondo for the set and the trivia contest.
