Sold all my grid iron football cards ...

I will be celebrating the Super Bowl in the same way as the last 8 or 9 years - by NOT watching it.
The biggest difference is that I sold off my entire American football card collection - including the ones I collected as a kid since about 1970. (including Bradshaw, Staubach, Payton and Montana rookies)
I'll be tuning in to watch CHELSEA vs. LIVERPOOL on Sunday morning and searching the internet for my next rare soccer (football) card.
I am lining up the sights on selling my vintage basketball next ... then possibly my baseball or some of my hockey ... we'll see !

Also, I need a copy of that Georgie Best card. Drop me a line if you see one on eBay or otherwise.
Only an idiot would have a message board signature.
Torres HAS to score. Interested to see how Ancelotti plays him.

<< <i>I'm also excited about the Chelsea game tomorrow... Not enough to NOT watch the Super Bowl, but excited nonetheless.

If you meant the George Best TOPPS card with FULHAM (in my signature), I actually have an extra one.
VITO - we will be at odds tomorrow - King Kenny (Dalglish) has Liverpool up and running again. I do not have big expectations for the rest of the season - there are still lots of deadwood players we have to sell off. I still like Chelsea and many of thier players ...
Torres is ok - but Suarez and Andy Carroll will be LIVERPOOL players !
Did you see the Arsenal - Newcastle game ? Arsenal was up 4 - zip after 30 minutes ... people walking out of the stadium (big mistake !). Then - an Arsenal player was red carded and Newcastle rallied to even it at 4:4
What a game ! Newcastle actually scored a 5th but it was (wrongly) called back.
Hope tomorrow is as good.
cheers
Is not 'Chelsea' one of those ugly Clinton daughters ?
<< <i>Is that Frank Zappa in the avatar ? Why such the American influence ?

If you get the pre-game tomorrow you'll see Red Sox owner (now Liverpool FC owner) Tom Werner talk about Anfield and "The Kop".
All the talk of a new stadium seems gone with Werner telling the interviewer that the magic and history of the stadium was greater than he had heard. The atmosphere is electric.
In fact here is a youtube video LIV - MAN CITY (I'm behind the goalpost - tennents lager signboard - when both goals are scored !
Like Fenway, he want to keep the team at Anfield - I hope he does.
I do have some OPC hockey - but not alot that I'm ready to sell yet.
cheers
watching the liverpool-chelsea match as i type.....38 minutes in and not much has happened thus far. hoping for a more lively second half.
i did hear john henry discussing anfield's future and it does sound as though a new stadium is not in the works....sounds fine to me.

EVERY year I end up falling asleep at half-time.
The Super Bowl is WAY too commercialized and gives me the feel of an All-Star game rather than a championship one.
Guess that's why it is the goal of NFL players to "get" to the Super Bowl. I could never understand this. You never heard Jordan say he wanted to "get" to the finals. You never heard Gretzky or Messier say their goal was to play in the Stanley Cup Finals. No, it's always to "win" the championship, Cup, et cetera.
NFL players say "we wanna get to the Super Bowl" like being able to participate is just as important as the championship.
I'll view the SB today but I'm no longer a fan.
Events that chilled me on pro sports include the FB strike of '87 and the canceling of the WS in '94.
What's interesting is that I don't really miss it and I was a junkie!!! I watched college FB all day on Saturday and Pro on Sunday.
And, tho I hated getting up on Monday for work - I drew solace in that fact that I could see Monday Nite FB that evening.
I may get the bug back - but not sure when?
I respect all POV's here - so for those who love FB - I hope ya have a really good evening!!!
Kenny's boys pull it off at Stamform Bridge - winning 1:0. Cannot wait to have Suarez and Carroll pushing the others for a place in the starting 11.
Meanwhile, montreal Canadians (sssshhhhhh) are winning again - are the boys in red turning back the clock ? (Liverpool / Montreal)
Picked up the team set of 1988 Daily Mirror Liverpool players
and this Kasey Keller jersey card in a trade ...
greatest club team(s) i ever saw were liverpool from late 70s/early 80s. loaded with scots too, and dalglish my all-time favourite. hope he can return the reds to the glory days.

Three cheers for Agger and the elbow on FT9. Enjoy your time playing for Microsoft, Fernando!
<< <i>Reds v Blues last Sun. was just fantastic. I put $100 on The Reds at +500, and ended up watching the game with about seven Chelsea fans in a sportsbook in Vegas. The last 22 minutes were excruciating.

Oh Man !
THAt is funny as hell. I take that proudly coming from an Arsenal supporter. Lord knows Liverpool and the Gunners have had scraps over the recent years.
Enjoy your winnings compliments of King Kenny's boys !
